This document is a thesis submitted by Mercia Sias in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a degree in library and information science. The thesis investigates the role of Groenheuwel Public Library in realizing some of the Millennium Development Goals through a case study. Groenheuwel is located in Paarl, Drakenstein municipality and serves a community of around 6000 residents, including those living in informal settlements. The library aims to align with the municipality's vision of being a "Place of Excellence." The study uses questionnaires to determine how the library contributes to community development and what MDGs it helps achieve directly or indirectly.
