This document provides the program guide for the 2-day AIM Summer Institute being held in Jacksonville, Florida. The institute will include workshops on implementing the AIM method in French and Spanish classrooms, demonstrations of AIM activities, and opportunities for discussion and hands-on practice of AIM strategies. Participants will learn tips for setting up an AIM classroom, incorporating self-expression, moving from oral to written skills, and assessing student proficiency according to ACTFL standards. The goal is for teachers to gain strategies and resources to successfully use AIM in their own classrooms.

We are pleased to welcome you to the 1st US AIM Summer Institute!
To ensure you get the most out of the conference, please consider these tips for reading the Summer Institute program and
experiencing the event:
-The AIM Team
The two conference days will be packed with engaging work-
shops and opportunities to connect with other teachers! We
hope you find the Summer Institute to be a rewarding learning
opportunity, and look forward to working with you as you
implement AIM in your classroom!
Tip 1 Bring a laptop or paper to take notes. You will be receiving
workshop handouts but not until after the institute (see Tip 4)
Tip 2 Wear casual clothing please. This is your vacation time
and no need to‘dress up’! We want you to feel as comfort
able as possible during these two days.
Tip 3 If you have questions or comments that you would like to
share during the conference, please feel free to approach
one of the AIM staff members or an AIM Facilitator at any
time.
-This conference is for you, so we want to make sure we address
any questions or concerns you might have during the two days.
Tip 4 All workshop handouts will be shared with all participants
after the Summer Institute.
-After the conference, we will send a link to a survey to
collect your feedback on the event. At the end of the survey,
you will receive a link to box.com.
-The‘AIM Summer Institute 2016’folder on box.com will give
you access to all handouts from all of the workshops offered
at the Summer Institute, regardless of whether you attended
the workshop.
