2. GENRE MOODBOARD
The main genre of the film is Sci-Fi, which can be seen through the theme of time travel throughout the film. Certain aspects,
such as the settings and way that the characters act can all be traced back to codes and conventions of the Sci-Fi genre. The
film could also be seen as a genre hybrid due to traces of the Thriller genre which can be found throughout.
3. NARRATIVE
Working Title: The Loop
Short Logline:
When a time machine piloted by ex-detective John lambert crashes, leaving him stranded in an unknown time or space, he only has digital assistant Araveb to
help him unravel the many mysteries of the fourth dimension – although it would seem he has all the time in the world…
Introduction of Key Characters:
Ex-Detective John lambert is the main character, having been fired from the detective organisation known as Y.E.T.I during a time that time travel is a standard
mode of transport for the authorities.
John Lambert’s digital assistant known as Araveb is housed within his watch. Although intended to be an incredibly advanced system, he does not always
work as required and provides some occasional light comic relief.
The short film follows ex-detective John lambert from the technologically advanced year of 2150, who was put out of the job due to allegedly breaking the
codes of time travel. Through the illegal use of a time machine salvaged from his former work place, he traverses back through the course of history in an
attempt to investigate further and prove the authorities wrong. However, when his time machine crashes and leaves him stranded in an unknown time or
space, he has only his digital assistant Araveb to help him unravel the mystery that got him there in the first place – and it’s not as straight forward as he
initially thinks.

4. COSTUME / PROPS
The only prop that is essential to the plot is the watch-like item that the main character wears, this houses the hologram
projection of Araveb. All that would be required is a basic looking watch, with computer generated imagery mixed with real
footage achieving the full effect. The character of John Lambert’s initial costume has been custom designed with a Y.E.T.I.
logo attached to the front, the coat is long and black in order to indicate stealth within the institution. A sequence which sees
the character go through multiple brief costume changes would require a couple of varying outfits, this includes Arabic robes
along with a fez and a leather jacket along with a white shirt. The character of Araveb requires a white robe.
5. FILMING LOCATIONS
For the opening sequence, a set for the time machine has been created – this features lights that bring focus on the controls
whilst the surrounding area is black and mysterious. Primarily, the short film will be filmed in Ryhope Dean – a vast forest area
that presents obscure and unique scenery, representing the unknown location that the time machine crashes within. I have
experience with this location as it has featured in other projects of mine.
