FilmSynopsis:
The story of Affiliation is presentedinaunique,stylisticandoverall interestingmanner.The
structure of the storyand itsvariousscenesare writtenina dynamicway,whilstmaintainingagood
pace thatwill engrossthe audience throughout.The locationandpropsinvolvedhave beengiven
particularthought,withdetail contributingtothe film’smisenscène crammedintoalmostevery
frame of footage. Howeverlimitedthe budgetmaybe,thisshortbutthrilling storyisthe perfect
example of howtoutilise the correctequipmentandtechniquesinordertocreate the bestend
resultpossible.
Logline:
On the ten-yearanniversaryof the daythat 7 gangleadersdecidedtocome togetherandaffiliate to
become one,trouble isstirringatPete’sbaras the memoriesandactionsof the individualsthere
come back to haunt them – in a more literal sense thanyoumayexpect…
ScreenplayStructure:
Act 1: As Pete filtersoutthe lastof hiscustomers,itseemslike its notclosingtime quite yet –as he
isvisitedbysome acquaintancesfromhisdarkpast.
Act 2: As the characters we come to know as BenjaminandSpencerdiscussthe questionable quality
of Pete’sdrinks,amongstother secretive business –theyare confrontedbyquite possiblythe last
personthey’dwanttocome acrossin the world.
Act 3: Afteran intense scene involvingbetrayal andangerthatshowcasesthe darksidesof these
characters,the tablesare turnedcompletely –withthe outcome notbeingwhat the characters,nor
the audience mayexpect.The final scene endsona silentandthought-evokingnote.
Characters:
Pete:Althoughthe firstimpressionsthischaractergivesare thatof an outgoingbarmanwitha
positive attitudetowardshiscustomers,hiscowardlynature getsthe betterof himashe betrays
othersforthe sake of hisown well-being.

OldMan: Thischaracter onlyhas a fewlines,althoughplaysanimportantrole inprovidingsome
lightcomicrelief duringthe beginningof the film.Fittingastereotype thatthe audience may
recognise andappreciate.
Benjamin:A clearlyeducatedandsecretive individual,he facesmanychoicesthroughoutthe film
and istestedtowho he trulyisas a person.Comingfroma darkbackground,he carriesthe weightof
manyregretsfrom throughouthislife aspartof the affiliatedgroup.
Spencer:A seeminglymore sophisticatedandcomposedindividual thanthisformerbusiness
partner, whodespite hislackof sight – can see more of what’s goingon thanyou mightexpect.
GG:A mysteriouscharacterwhoperhapshasthe leastlightsheduponhim.He bearsa goldenmask
and isseatedwiththe otheraffiliatedmembersduringthe flashbackscene.
Jimmy Mac: Thischaracter has a longlistof offencesthattrumps thatof the othermembers,thisis
one of the reasonsthathe oftenkeepshimself concealed,withhisbacktothe camera as the
flashbackscene takesplace.
Scarlett: Beingone of the fewfemale gang leaders,thisillusivecharacterispresumedtobe as
calculative asherassociates – as she engageswiththe otherduringthe flashbackscene.
Terrance: Somewhatof a tomboy,Terrance ispresentedasa powerful brute,whowouldn’tbe a
force to reckon with– makingupthe last of the flashbackcharactershat brieflyappear.
Anthony: The supposedmainantagonistof the story,Anthonyor“Tony” as he isoftenreferredto,is
a character who haslosta lotthat he heldclosely,seekingrevenge throughgenerallyintimidating
hisopponents,whilstunleashingatemperthatcouldstartle a whale.
FilmTreatment:
Tenyears ago,sevengangleaderscame togethertoaffiliateasone group,althoughfollowingthis –
several disputeswere hadbetweenthem,withAnthonydepartingandturningthe groupagainst
each other. The majorityof thistookplace withinthe isolatedwallsof Pete’sbar,whomwhichthey
had formedatreaty.
On the anniversaryof the date that the groupformed,Pete receivesavisitfrommore thanone of
hisoldassociates.Althoughoriginallythere tomeetsurroundinggeneral day-to-day“work”forthe

men,BenjaminandSpencersoonendupmeetingupwithalittle more thantheybargainedfor – in
the form of Anthony.
Followingthe scenesdepictedinaflashback,the suddenappearanceof Anthonyisstartlingtothe
characters inthe bar. It is fromhere onthat we hear Anthony’sside of things,ashe delivershis
informationinamaliciousandintimidatingfashion.
From here onout,the plotbeginstothickenandtwistas the characters are turnedagainsteach
otherinthe film’saction-packedclimax.The stakesare high asthe desiresof the unpredictable
sociopathAnthonycome tofruition,butwhoisthe true villaininall of this?
Target Audience / Unique SellingPoint:
My envisagedaudience ispeople of a similarage groupto those presentedinthe film,beingyoung
adultsof around 20 plus.These membersof the audience shouldperhapsrelate tothe characters
the most,althoughthe almostoldwesternstyle thatthe filmpresentsmaywell appealtoolder
audience membersalso.The use of language andgraphicthemesthroughoutthe filmmeanthatit
wouldbe unsuitable foryoungchildren,althougholderteenagersshouldfinditenjoyabletoo.
The unique sellingpointof myproductionisthatitis a short filmona low budget.However,utilises
whatit has to the bestof itsability –creatinga compelling,relatableandaccurate as possible
recreationof the livesof people whofindthemselvesingangs;reflectedbythe charactersand
moralspresentedwithinthe overall story.All of thisisshowntothe audience inawell-pacedand
grippingfashion –and isdone so inthe bestqualitypossible.
