Glass is manufactured by heating a mixture of sand, soda, and lime to high temperatures. The main natural resources used are silica sand, soda ash, and lime. In the manufacturing process, these raw materials are precisely weighed and mixed before being melted in furnaces at 1300-1600 degrees Celsius to form molten glass. The molten glass is then molded, annealed for strengthening, and cooled to form glass products. Major glass manufacturing companies in India have plants located based on availability of raw materials, transportation, energy sources, and skilled labor.
