7. FIBRE GLASS ELLIPTICAL
CEILING:
This architectural element
visually connected the
mezzanine with the floor by
means of a backlit water fall.
This was by far the most
challenging product we
executed in the DIAL T3.
The FRP ceiling was not only
elliptical in cross section but
also arranged as an ellipse in
plan.
A complex mesh of primary
steel structure supported a
secondary rib cage on which
the FRP segments were
mounted.
The FRP ceiling was then
sprayed painted with a matte
white MRF 2 coat system.

KIOSKS & CANOPIES:
These free standing
illuminated glass &
stainless steel structures
were fabricated as
separate assemblies in
workshops then knocked
down and brought into site
in pieces for final welding.
Though the initial concept
was to clad the MS
columns with 3mm thk
powder coated aluminum
shells; finally they were
cladded with DuPont’s
Corian as the almn shells
did not align correctly.

DETAIL of SS RING BRACKETS ADVERTISEMENT TOTEMS:
These architectural sculptures
are conceptualized as blooming
lotuses to hang plasma screen
for advertisement purpose.
The 3 dimensional curves with
tapering triangular cross section
took many attempts to get it
right.
The sub frame consisted of 3
rolled structural aluminum tubes
& converging at the apex. In
core was a MS SHS tube which
braced the 3 Almn. tubes
together at intervals.
3mm thk aluminum was used to
clad these tubes
The process of making the
surface seem seamless was
similar to a car body tinkering.
Welding the joints and buffing
the surface with metal putty.
The putty finished surface was
spray painted with a 3 coat
metallic automotive paint.
