2. THE THEORY OF THE LONG TAIL
Our first theory we will be using to explain how
technology will be used in 2023 ad. Will be
Longtail theory. It provides information about a
smaller markets overtaking the bigger markets.
EXAMPLE: Free Audiobooks are overtaking the one ones that cost.
3. LONGTAIL THEORY CONT’D
Using data on movie-rating patterns, new Wharton research
challenges current thinking on the Long Tail effect -- a widely
publicized theory that suggests the Internet drives demand away
from hit products with mass appeal, and directs that demand to
more obscure niche offerings.
In the markets distribution becomes easier when it’s dealing with
the internet. This allows the consumers to be more aware of the
products. The popular products will be separated from the demand
for many different niche products.
4. MEDIA SYSTEM DEPENDENCY THEORY
The second theory I would be working on will be
dependency theory. It explains on how it depends
on the media a lot more.
It relates to our topic of how it’s relevant to 2023
ad. In many ways.
EXAMPLE: What will the communication
technology landscape look like in 2023
A.D.?
When explaining the landscape, it relates to this theory because we feel as if we will need
the media a lot more in the near future, because of the whole data that could use social
revolution as an effective means to the reduction of economic disparities in the world
system.
5. DEPENDENCY THEORY CONT’D
A body of social science theories predicated on the notion that
resources flow from a "periphery" of poor and underdeveloped
states to a "core" of wealthy states, enriching the latter at the
expense of the former.
It is a central contention of dependency theory that poor states are
impoverished and rich ones enriched by the way poor states are
integrated into the "world system."
6. USES & GRATIFICATION THEORY
The Gratification Theory Explains, why someone would choose
technology over a book or choosing an technology over another.
EXAMPLE: Smartphone over House phone.
What will the communication technology landscape look like in
2023 A.D.?
This theory relates to are topic in many ways, because it gives us a
great lead way of how technology would be in the near.
7. GRATIFICATION THEORY CONT’D
A popular approach to understanding mass
communication.
The approach suggests that people use the media
to fulfill specific gratifications. This theory would
then imply that the media compete against other
information viewers’ gratification.
The internet enables us to have freedom and
escape all our worries at the click of a button.
Having access to websites that give us happiness
and a release from the daily grind.
