OUR STORY
mahia is to morocco as tequila is to mexico.
mahia, the national spirit of morocco, has been celebrated for centuries.
it’s delicious served straight, on ice with a squeeze of citrus, in cocktails,
as well as in chef-inspired dishes. esteemed chefs including daniel boulud
have played with our mahia in savory dishes, too.
nahmias et fils is the only mahia produced in the u.s.
inspired by a 1900 nahmias family heirloom recipe, from the village of
taznakht, nahmias mahia was regularly toasted in casablanca as the most
exceptional in all of morocco.
now, master distiller david nahmias handcrafts small batches of mahia in
the hudson valley. we’re purists and quality junkies. we carefully select
and include at least 5 pounds of california figs in every 750 ml bottle. we
also do not add sugar in any part of our process, so all alcohol produced
is naturally occurring from the sugar in the figs. a sense of cultural
history, love and a touch of anise bring this spirit to life.
“mahia” translates to “water of life.”

aged balsamic vinegar
lemon peel garnish
mix. pour over ice. drizzle vinegar on top.
garnish with a lemon peel.
