A short book of 88 pages about
immigrants who live in close
proximity to each other in the
inner city of Cleveland.
They take an abandoned lot and
develop a garden….
…Through this
endeavor they
become
engaged with
each other and
their cultures.
A few of
the classes
After learning some
background of the
author, setting and
characters we read the
book….
…then we started some
projects….
We explored our
own
cultures, families
and origins
Students blogged with other
students…
We posted
displays…
Students drew designs about one of
the characters
Each one unique
Then they moved the design to fabric
This colorful quilt will hang in the
Middle School Library
Another project…
Students worked with the art
department to design fence
posts depicting each character
to decorate our elementary
garden
The Anderson Elementary Garden
These will add
great color
and interest
to the garden.
As a character in the book
shares….
THANK
YOU
For the opportunity to introduce this special
book to so many students.
This is not the only year that we will use the
Seedfolks title as a small way to promote
diversity and understanding of all peoples.
