Les Dace invented the Secure Tracks device after retiring from a career in electrical and mechanical engineering. Marc Jacofsky, Vice President of Research and Development at Core Institute, helped develop the device further. The Secure Tracks is a track-based device that can support up to 350 pounds, requires no electricity, and helps patients walk with improved security, posture, and ambulation. A study found that patients who used Secure Tracks after total knee arthroplasty walked farther and with less pain compared to those using a walker, and similar results were found for hip arthroplasty patients. The device may allow for better outcomes like shorter hospital stays by promoting circulation, strength maintenance, and bone remodeling during recovery.
