This document summarizes a design proposal for an urban space in Seattle that connects different areas of the city through interaction and communication. The design is inspired by a web-like structure and aims to link Pike Place Market with the Olympic Sculpture Park. Key elements include entrances from both sides of Western Avenue and Blanchard Street that point toward a central Pavilion and Lower Square. Inspired by the concept of a web, our space connects people
through interaction and communication. On a larger scale, it
pulls areas throughout the city together, linking Pike Place
Market with the Olympic Sculpture Park.

7. entrances
The entrances from both sides of Western Avenue and
Blanchard Street bring people into our space, pointing them
towards the Pavilion and Lower Square located in the centre
of our site. This space acts a pedestrian walkway with greenery
and lights highlighting the pathway in and out, thus creating a
sense of safety within the site.

The various forms of seating placed throughout
our site are influenced by Kazimir Malevich’s
suprematist style. The diverse shapes allow for
interesting experiences between people, including
one on one conversations or group interactions
and meetings.

As the centre hub of our space, the Pavilion serves as a place for
people to converge and share information. It provides a space for
performances, group interactions, presentations, and other events.
The long and wide steps leading toward the lower stage of the
Pavilion interior can be used as a gathering space as well as
seats towards the featured speaker or performer.

The Lower Square is a gathering space for people to
spend time and interact with each other. The Pavilion
and shops create “Activity Pockets” on the edges of
our square, creating a lively centre in the open space.
