The man had four sons and sent each to look at a pear tree in a different season to teach them not to judge things too quickly based on a single experience. The first son saw the tree in winter and said it was ugly, while the second in spring said it was promising. The third in summer said it was beautiful, and the fourth in fall said it was full of life. The man explained that they were all right because each only saw one season, and a person or thing cannot be fully judged until all seasons have passed.

Seasons of Life
If you give up when it's Winter,
you 'll miss the promise of the Spring,
the beauty of your Summer and the fullfillment of your Fall.
Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest. Don't judge life by one difficult season.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Seasons of life
1. There was a man who had
four sons.
He wanted his sons to learn
not to Judge things too
quickly.
So he sent them each on a
quest, in turn,to go and look
at a pear tree that was a
great distance away
2. The first son went in the winter,
the second in the spring,
the third in summer,
and the youngest son in the fall.
3. When they had all gone and
returned, he called them
together to describe what
they had seen
4. The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.
The second son said it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
5. The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so
sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever
seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and
drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
6. The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they
had each seen only one season in the tree's life.
7. He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season.
That the essence of who they are, and the pleasure, joy, and love that
come from that life, can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons
are up.
8. If you give up when it's winter,
you will miss the promise of your
spring, the beauty of your summer,
And the fulfillment of your fall.
9. Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
Don't judge life by one difficult season.
