1. Script for our Main Task.
Fade In
Pavement/Driveway
Katie walks along the road, on her way home from school- camera tracks her movement. Camera is
positioned over her shoulder and zooms into her texting the opening title – “A Melm Productions film”.
Over the shoulder shot follows her as she trips over and falls into a puddle. The splash of water from
the puddle forms the title “starring”
She gets up and walks towards the door, a close up of her unzipping her bag reveals title inside -“Meg
Abernethy-Hope”. Then she rummages in her bag (breaking up the title) and pulls out her keys.
Match on action as the camera films her opening the door (an over-the-shoulder shot) and then films
her from the inside walking through the door and slamming it. The camera remains in position and as
Katie walks past, and reveals a title which fades into the window – “as Katie Smith”.
The camera then turns and follows her muddy footprints, which have titles within them – “and Jack
Jones”.
SMASH CUT TO
Kitchen
Camera tracks Katie as she throws bag onto table. As she does so, sweets fall out of the bag, scatter
everywhere, and form a title – “as Joe Miles”.
Camera tracks as Katie walks to fridge, Over her shoulder the camera zooms in to a title on the fridge,
made of fridge magnets – “directed by”.
Camera remains over Katie’s shoulder, as she gets a bottle of milk from the fridge and closes the
door. A new title appears on the door – “Lauren Weaver”.
Katie then walks to the kettle, and turns it on. She then pours milk into a cup, the title “Film editor”
also pours from the bottle. Meanwhile, as the kettle is boiling, the camera zooms towards it, as the
title “Emmy Mitchell” appears amongst the steam.
WIPE TO
Katie as she is opening a cupboard. As she reaches to get a snack from the back, a pack of peanuts
falls out of the cupboard and onto the floor.
CUT TO
2. A shot of the peanuts, spelling the title ‘Sound by”
TILT TO
Katie’s Face – looking annoyed and frustrated.
CUT TO
Katie slamming the cupboard door shut
TURN TO TRACK
Katie as she goes and picks up her drink, then walks through to hall.
STAIRS
Katie runs up stairs, and as she does so, a title appears on the bannister – “Millie Hunt”
Camera tracks Katie to her room, where she puts down her phone and drink, walks to window
whereupon a title “Visuals by Harry Buck” is sitting on the window sill. As Katie pulls the curtains, the
title is covered. She then enters the bathroom and gets in the shower. Meanwhile, a message
appears on her phone “Production co-ordinated by Laura Turner”
SMASH CUT TO
SHOWER
Title “set design” is written in the condensation on the shower door.
FAST FORWARD TO
BEDROOM
Katie putting on make-up. Her hand slips and lipstick is wiped across her face. Zoom in to an
EXTREME CLOSE UP
On her eyes frowning, to show her reaction. Then camera tracks from her face to the mirror,
whereupon the title “By Alice Ville” is written on the mirror in lipstick.
Camera tracks Katie’s actions as she opens a drawer, and as she does so, a title appears inside
“Make-up by Maisie Harris”
CUT TO
Point-of-view shot inside drawer. Katie retrieves a necklace, and closes the drawer, causing a
BLACKOUT
3. Camera tracks Katie as she walks to a wardrobe and opens the doors. A title “Photography by Max
Wills” is revealed inside.
The shot angle then changes to the camera being positioned inside the wardrobe (point of view shot).
Katie pulls out an outfit and closes the doors.
BLACKOUT
BEDROOM
Katie is now dressed. Camera remains stationary in the room as she runs out of the door, then runs
back in and picks up her bag from the floor, revealing the title “HAWM Pictures presents” on a post-it
note thrown on the carpet. She switches off the lights and closes the door.
BLACKOUT.CUT TO
STAIRS
Camera tracks Katie running down the stairs, into the kitchen, through to the utility and out of the door
– slamming it behind her. Her car is parked outside – she jumps into it.
CUT TO
Wide shot of car on the driveway. Car is started and accelerates quickly. The camera remains in a
stationary position, as the car moves out of shot a title “Accidental” appears in the line of exhaust.
