EXT.FIELD.DAY
Looking at the bear he starts to talk to him asking for
advice on what to do, how to get the girl whilst doubting
himself and feeling nervous/shy.
BRYAN
Theres this girl... I’ve liked her
for a while, I just don’t know how
to talk to her or where to even
start.
He hears the silence and the natural surroundings around him
he waits for the bear to reply and say something.
BEAR
Who’s the girl and what makes her
so special?
BRYAN
She’s uhm... I’ve seen her before
in school...
Bryan starting to look into the distance thinking of what
else he can say.
BEAR
You... don’t just see her in school
do you?
BRYAN
No, I’ve seen her in a dream.
BEAR
This isn’t the... first dream, is
it?
Looking down at his phone he turns it on as he stares at the
screen for a while then turns off the phone again loosing the
confidence to call her.
BEAR (CONT’D)
You’re thinking of calling her?
Looking back at the bear realizing that, the Bear is right.
What he wants todo is call the girl, he just can’t find the
confidence.
BRYAN
I think I’m scared... Why can’t I
just do it?
The teddy bear answers back trying to help him conquer his
nerves and shyness at the same time wanting him to speed up
the process.
BEAR
Just do it.
Bryan unlocking his phone as he looks at his text messages,
staring at his phone finding the courage to call her.
BRYAN
How do I know she’s going to
answer...
Bear instantly replies back
BEAR
Well, have you tried yet? What
makes this girls so special
anyways?
Pointing out the obvious he raises his voice slightly.
BRYAN
She’s just the one, her perfect
voice, that look of hers. I don’t
know... it’s hard to explain.
Bryan staring at the phone screen still not doing anything to
call her.
BEAR
You’re holding the phone but you’ve
done nothing about it.
Bryan getting slightly annoyed at the bear still trying to
keep calm.
BRYAN
Are you going to let me call her or
am I just going to have you
answering me back every second?
BEAR
Call her then... I’m waiting.
Bryan looking down at his phone as he starts dialing the
number, as he looks back at the bear for a minute the phone
locks itself.
2.
BRYAN
Wait!... Who are you to tell me
what to do?!
BEAR
You were never gonna call her
anyway, you were just trying to get
me to shut up!
BRYAN
Me trying to get you to shut
up?!... Please you’d never shut up
anyway.
BEAR
But you don’t want me to... do you?
BRYAN
Oh please...
Turning away from the bear Bryan wants him to go away... get
out of his head.
BRYAN (CONT’D)
Why are you still here?
BEAR
Because you don’t want me to, do
you...?
Bryan replying instantly starting to get annoyed with the
bear repeating himself all the time.
BRYAN
(Annoyed)
You keep saying that, why do you
keep saying that!
BEAR
Oh grow up Bryan, you know exactly
what I mean!
Turing on the phone he dials the number this time dialing
slightly more numbers than the last time.
BEAR (CONT’D)
JUST CALL HER! For god’s sake.
BRYAN
Just stop!
3.
BEAR
Press it!
Bryan looking down at the ground trying to process his
feelings. Neither of them know how to continue the
conversation.
BEAR (CONT’D)
Why did you call me here?
BRYAN
I didn’t.
BEAR
So then why I am here.
BRYAN
I just... I though I could do it.
But I can’t. I let you down.
BEAR
You only let yourself down.
On his final breath of courage, Bryan dial her number and
start the call. After a few rings he hears a “hello”.
At that moment, times seems to stop. There is no noise. Only
him and his thoughts.
BEAR (CONT’D)
You have to wake up and see the
world around you!
BRYAN
But what if she doesn’t like me?
BEAR
That is not really what you are
afraid of, is it?
BRYAN
I though it was.
Bryan suddenly realizes that he doesn’t fear rejection.
BEAR
Oh... I see. You are afraid of
growing up. You have to,
eventually.
BRYAN
I’m afraid of loosing you.
4.
Bryan hears another “hello” coming from the phone. Bear
starts to fade.
BRYAN (CONT’D)
Wait, where are you going.
Bryan start wimping.
BEAR
That is why you called me. To say
goodbye.
On a strong voice.
BRYAN
Hi, Alice.
Bear static, as a normal toy. Bryan places him in a shelve.
Looks out of the window having a conversation.
