We usedan Additivedissolveacouple of times
to show the passingof time and fading
memoriestoprovoke anemotional response
fromthe audience.
Our entire videowaseditedinblackandwhite.
Thiswas done to symbolicallyshow the colour
drainingfromherworld. Itis alsoa popular
conventionof the indie rockgenre andishow
the 1975 shoottheirmusicvideosmakingours
act as a pastiche.
We sloweddownsome of the clipstofitthe
tempoof the song and to exploitthe emotionsof
the audience;inthiscase the slow motiongives
the audience more time toconnectwiththe
characters emotions,oftenshowinghow much
Darcy lovesZach reflectingthattime stops.
2. Titleswere usedatthe endas credits.Insteadof
usingthe typical rollingtitleswe choose stillssthey
complementedthe style more once theywerein
time withthe beats.The titlesstatedthe castand
crewsname as well andthe song and artist name.
Whenplacingour clipsintothe timeline we used
the visualsonlysothat the soundwasn’tover
riddenbythe score.Using the visualsonlytool
allowedustodrag and dropthe footage ontothe
timelineeasilywithlesscause for mistakes.
In orderto uploadourclipsonto Adobe Premier
Pro we had to Importthembyclicking‘file’the
‘importclips’.Thiskeptthemsavedonoureditin
the side bar readyto use whenneededmakingthe
editingprocessquickerandeasier.
We wouldMark inand out ourclips in orderto get
a precise lengthandhave al thee neededshotsin
place.Thisalsomade it easierare we couldwatch
the clipin full andmarkwhat’sneededbefore
addingitin; thisreducedchance of cuttingthe
wrongclip
To create the effectof a time lapse we Speedup
the footage shotinthe car. Thisworkedextremely
effectivelyaswe couldgetthe footage inthat we
neededwithouttakinguptoomuch time.Italso
showsthat Darcy was wishingtospeeduptime to
eitherforgetthingsandwishtime awaydue toher
emotional painortosee Zach again.
