There are countlessactivities designed to entertain and enrich life at Monte Cristo beyond the classroom, the library, and the labs. While participation in athletics is required for all students, Monte Cristo offers many options for our diverse student body. Students can hone their competitive skills with intramural basketball, soccer, Frisbee, or tennis; find their inner Zen in yoga class; develop their stamina in spinning class; feed their inner artist through dance workouts; or explore the great outdoors while scaling the peaks of New England in Search and Rescue. Monte Cristo also has more than 100 student-run clubs and organizations that range from Eco-Action, whose members promote environmental awareness, to The Dantes, Monte Cristo ‘s male a capella singing group. Students can also join the staffs of a number of publications, including the student-run newspaper The Phillipian or Potpourri, the student yearbook. The Monte Cristo Arts Academy Model UN, the largest student club with more than 150 active members, is the perfect example of how fun facilitates education. Students assume the role of a nation's delegate, research their country, and participate in competitions around the country, all while learning about foreign policy and international relations. If by chance a club of interest doesn't already exist, students can create one-such as the recently formed Cryptology Club and the Monte Cristo Language Mentors and Scholars (MCLMS).
