CAPTION PROJECT
What Happens During 3rd Period
By: Belle Anderson
A-LINE STRETCH
Down the line, Emily Bollom, Katie Berger, and Sarah Prince all dip down in sync while working on their pep rally show. The girls have created an infinite
bond between each other during this year of dancing their hearts out. Katie Berger, an officer on the team, says “I get to help teach some of the dances,
and I love serving the team. It brings me a lot of joy!”
HANDS INTHE AIR
Addy Jackson teaches a group of Stars dancers a part of the “Beautiful People” dance created for the pep rally. Rachel Cleveland, Ellie Plumer, Kayla
Jordan,Tatum Sass, and Ashley Benson followed along and tried to keep up with the moves.Addy comments on her teaching abilities and says,” I love
helping people understand the moves so they feel confident.”
CHATTER BOX
Kalee Williams and Taylor Walton, sophmores, converse during C lunch in the cafeteria. Kalee seemed uninterested in the conversation and looked like
she did not want to hear Taylor’s story. After seeing the photo,Taylor laughed and said,“I was talking about homework due that day. Maybe that’s why she
made that face!”
COME CLOSER
All looking bright and happy, Sarah Prince,Addy Jackson, Kennedy Rockvam, and Emily Bollum make a gesture to “come closer” during their preparation
for the pep rally performance. All the girls spoke out about how much they love being part of a team. Kennedy Rockvam added,“I like how close we are
as a group. It’s like a sisterhood”.
C LUNCH
During D Lunch in the FHS cafeteria, Cody Shelby, Stephano Benededo, and Henry Grimshaw, all freshman, talk about school and music they like at their
table. Students love lunch time because it gives them time to talk with their friends outside of class. Henry tells us that he was “playing his nintendo DS in
this picture. Mario Smash Bros.”
JAZZ HANDS
Learning their new dance for the FHS Pep Rally, Rachel Cleveland, Ellie Plumer, Maria Lawson, and Kaeli Long make some jazzy moves. Earlier in the week, the
Stars team got a visit from a choreographer from Dallas, who choreographed their dance “Beautiful People”.About the experience, Ellie Plumer says, ”A really
great choreographer came into Frisco to teach us the dance moves, which was competition jazz, and after he left it took us two more weeks to learn.”
KIDNAPPED KALEE
Kalee Williams, an FHSVarsity Soccer star, looks like she has just seen a ghost during C lunch. Earlier that morning, the older varsity players kidnapped
the newest ones at 2 in the morning and sent them on a scavenger hunt until the earliest hours of the morning.“They kidnapped us and dressed us up
like grandmas. I was so tired but it was a fun time,” said Kalee.
GROUP CHAT
Emily Belier,Addy Jackson, and Mason Budzius gather around to talk about the Stars Dance team in the gym.The girls chatted about making the dance
better and how to better choreograph the moves.“The dance we were correcting was called “Beautiful People”, and we performed it for the pep rally
show”, says Emily Belier, a junior at FHS
TEAM BUILDING
During Stars practice in the FHS large gym, dancers Kaeli Long, Lizzy Swindell, and Katie Berger get into groups to talk about their most recent dance to
improve things. The dancers always take time to get together and talk about the things they need to improve upon. Lizzy Swindell says,“I love being on
the Stars because we get to make so many memories that we wouldn't have otherwise, and these girls are like a second family to me.”
DEEP INTHOUGHT
During C lunch in the cafeteria at FHS,Taylor Walton and Addison Flumerfelt, both sophomores, stare off into space, like many of the other students at
lunch. Plenty of students tended to zone out during their lunch break, because of the long school day they had been having. When asked what she was
thinking in the photo,Addison says,“I was thinking about what I had for breakfast that morning and what I was going to do over the weekend.”
LEARNINGTHE DANCE
Addy Jackson helps instruct the group of Stars Dancers including Kaeli Long, Kayla Jordan,Tatum Sass, Emily Bollum, and Katie Berger. The girls were
working on a new dance called “Beautiful People” for the newest pep rally for students.Tatum Sass commented,”The best part of performing at a pep
rally is hearing the crowd afterwards. You can tell they really loved the performance.”
SPREADING SMILES
Sarah Klausner and Taylor Walton, both sophomores at FHS, laugh about a photo in the cafeteria during C lunch. Sarah seems to be very amused by what
she is showing Taylor, and also very eager to do so.“I was showing her a picture of her when she was little,” Sarah says,”she was in a pool wearing floaties
and had a toothless smile”.
LISTENING INTENTLY
Sydney Dominguez,Ashley Benson, and Skylar Olsen are three of the girls that are huddled around the group in the FHS large gym during third period.
These girls were listening intently to Addy Jackson, junior and captain, speak to them about improving their upcoming dance.Ashley Benson says,“I like it
when we have someone telling us how we need to improve, because it makes us better dancers.”
GROUP HUDDLE
Collected in group huddles, the stars dancers converse about their days and the dances they are learning. Maria Lawson,Tatum Sass, and Ellie Plumer sit
in circles together, better forming bonds.“We were going over corrections we could do to the dance to make it better,” says Ellie Plumer when asked
about the photo.
REACH FORTHE CEILING
Stars Dancers Kennedy Rockvam, Kayla Jordan, and Erica Smart, jump for joy during their new pep rally dance,“Beautiful People”.The stars dancers have
created a bond with each other like no other. Kayla Jordan comments on this by saying,“These people are like a second family. The dances are so fun, fast,
high energy, and a good workout.”
