The document profiles two secret agents, Mervin and Jax, who work for the CIA. Mervin is an elderly spy who is able to get away with missions using his age as a cover. His partner Jax is a dog who helps Mervin complete missions while distracting him from naps and medication. Together the unlikely spy duo works to catch bad guys through stealth and clever tricks.
Talk in The Social-Engineer Village at DEF CON 24

[Overview]
As a Japanese security consultant, one of my research questions in social engineering is whether or not cultural difference becomes the barrier for social engineering. It is because the malicious practice of social engineering is different between in Japan and the U.S. I think it is true. Since I have the both experience of being the company in Japan and the U.S., I would like to consider various technique of social engineering from both cultural glasses, such as tailgating, phishing or vishing method. In my talk, I would like to discuss the workability of several social engineering techniques from both Japanese and U.S. culture. It will support the cultural difference can become the barrier or vulnerable weakness.

T H E B R E A K D O W N :Mervin happens to be a senior citizen. However, this does not stop
Mervin from being one of the top spies for the CIA. As a matter of
fact, he uses his age to his benefit. Mervin can practically getaway with murder because nobody suspects the old man. Mervincan often be seen on many exotic and local destinations with hissenior tour companions, at the bingo halls, and catching the early
bird dinner special. Mervin loves to catch the bad guy. The onlything he likes to do more is to catch an early bird dinner, takenaps, and pop some medication and chase it down with a finewhisky.

Jax is the unsung hero of many of the missions in which he and
Mervin partake. It is no easy task to keep Mervin from falling
asleep on the job, mixing up medications, or out maneuver thugs.
Jax is always up for the challenge. Few would suspect a loveable
dog to be a government agent and Jax only uses that to his
advantage to complete missions. Jax is a hard working dog and on
occassions cannot concentrate and gets distracted by tennis balls.
One might say, that tennis balls are his kryptonite and a constant
source of battle of concentration for Jax.
