Saudi Arabia has a culture strongly influenced by Arab and Wahhabi Islamic traditions. One influential folk tradition is the Al Ardha sword dance, based on ancient Bedouin rituals of drumming, chanting, and dancing with swords. Both men and women dress conservatively according to religious customs, with men wearing a cap and headscarf and women wearing an abaya cloak and full face veil. Traditional Saudi cuisine features lamb, chicken, bread, and dishes like falafel and shawarma, while soccer is a hugely popular sport. Saudi Arabia is also an Islamic theocratic monarchy where Islam is the official religion and religious freedom for other faiths is restricted.
