Saturn Minerals Inc has discovered a new 26m thick coal seam, called Thunder, during its winter drill program. This is Saturn's third coal discovery in three years of drilling in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The discovery points to coal seams becoming generally shallower to the east across the region, with implications for lower strip ratios and starting depths, improving potential economics. The discovery is located along the same geophysical trend as an earlier significant discovery, supporting the geological model. However, geophysics alone has not proven reliable outside this trend, requiring further drilling to evaluate targets. Stratigraphy is also not yet established between discoveries due to limited drilling depths. The new discovery supports focusing future exploration along the defined geophysical trend.
