Samsung's US smartphone sales make up only a fraction of its global sales, with just 15% of its total smartphone shipments going to America in the second quarter of 2012. While Samsung leads the global market, it trails Apple in the crucial US market, with a 26% share there compared to Apple's 31% share. Samsung will need to continue heavily marketing its Galaxy line of Android phones in the US to try and close the gap with Apple in its home market.
