The Reformation was a 16th century religious and political movement in Europe. Martin Luther published his 95 Theses in 1517 criticizing Catholic Church practices, which helped spark the Protestant Reformation and divide in Christianity. The Reformation led to new Protestant churches emerging and a division in many European countries between those who followed Catholic or Protestant religious teachings.
