Il y a peu les majors musicales (Warner, Universal, Sony, etc…) détenaient le monopole de la production en contrôlant l’enregistrement, la promotion (le marketing visant à la consommation du support physique), la distribution (grâce aux accords passés avec les distributeurs) et l’édition. Tout artiste devait être « produit » par une major pour que son œuvre ait une chance d'être largement commercialisée.
Internet a profondément déstabilisé l’industrie de la musique et chamboulé le système de production artistique. Les règles ont changé ! La chaine de valeur de la musique enregistrée n’est plus à sens unique. Les artistes bénéficient désormais d’autres voies pour atteindre les consommateurs.
Pour toucher le plus grand nombre, ils peuvent désormais s’appuyer sur des espaces personnels s’appuyant sur les réseaux sociaux et ce, pour des coûts modiques.
Les majors ne sont plus incontournables !
Nous évoquerons cette mutation aussi récente que radicale au travers de recherches, d'analyses et d'expériences de terrain matérialisées par des entretiens avec des artistes, des communicants mais aussi avec le public, adepte des réseaux sociaux.
Nous aborderons notamment la puissance réelle de ces canaux alternatifs et virtuels, mais aussi la pertinence d'utilisation de ces plates-formes et les techniques et outils à la disposition des créateurs musicaux.
