EAFF Workshop Report on Analysis of Co-operative Acts of Eastern Africa RegionGacoki Kipruto
This document summarizes the proceedings of a two-day workshop held by the Eastern Africa Farmers Federation to validate a report on analyzing cooperative acts in Eastern Africa and experiences from the European cooperative movement. Day 1 involved presentations on analyses of the cooperative acts of Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda, as well as discussions on recommendations. Key findings were that cooperative laws have been ineffective without supportive policies, and cooperatives suffer from image problems and lack professional management. Day 2 featured a presentation on the development of European cooperatives and a discussion on developing a regional cooperative policy framework for Eastern Africa. The overall goal was to improve the regulatory environment for cooperatives in the region.
Modi and Merkel visited Bosch facilities in Bangalore to gain insights into their research, training, and smart manufacturing activities in India. Bosch has invested 650 crores (100 million euros) in 2015 and plans to implement connected production in all 14 of their Indian plants by 2018. They are working on innovations in areas like data analytics, smart manufacturing, and healthcare diagnostics to meet local needs in India and globally.

The Giant Panda Bear lives in central China in bamboo forests and gives birth to 1-2 cubs every 2-3 years. They have large molar teeth and thick fur to survive in their habitat, as well as an extra thumb to hold bamboo, which they eat up to 35 pounds of daily. However, humans cutting down bamboo forests and taking panda land threatens their environment.
Delmaine J has over 15 years of experience in credit analysis and underwriting. She currently works as an Underwriter at Lombard Insurance, where she analyzes client financials and risks to provide insurance quotes and facilities between R10m to R500m. Previously, she was a Credit Analyst at ABSA and Nedbank, where she completed credit applications, analyzed statements, and monitored client accounts and risk exposures. She holds a BComm in Marketing and an Honours in Financial Management.
