The origins of the rubber band ball can be traced back to ancient Incan cultures who would wrap thin elastic vines around pebbles to create balls for games. Today, the world's largest rubber band ball was created by Steven Milton and weighs over 4,600 pounds, using over 175,000 rubber bands. Milton's ball broke the previous record set in 1999 by John Bain whose rubber band ball weighed 3,120 pounds.
