• The narrator is absent;
• It happens in their house during moreless 2
days;
• There is an analepsis.
Plot
• This story is about the Taylor’s family: Albert,
Mabel and their newborn baby. They were
having problems with the baby, because she
didn’t eat. Albert, the father, who was a
beekeeper founds a solution to the problem.
In the end Mabel realised that the solution
only created more problems, affecting the
baby’s apperance

Different endings
• The story could end with Albert turning into a bee
and also their daughter becoming the queen bee
that would lead all the bee society.
• Their daughter could get extremely fat and die of
diabetes and then Mabel could start blaming
Albert for her death and they would get divorced.
• Albert would get even more obsessed with bees
and Mabel would get tired of him and Albert
would keep on with his researches and become a
mad scientist.
Is the story realistc?
• In the beginning we think that the story may
be realistic.
• Throughout the extensive reading we come to
the conclusion that the writer left his typical
mark in this story, as we can see the story
finishes with almost the whole family turning
into bees so we realize that as usual in a Roald
Dahl story it ends becoming unrealistic.
