The play begins with a fight between the Capulet and Montague families in Verona. Romeo, a Montague, falls in love with Juliet, a Capulet, at a party. They marry secretly but their love is torn apart when Romeo kills Juliet's cousin Tybalt after Tybalt murders Romeo's friend Mercutio. Romeo is banished from Verona, so Juliet turns to Friar Lawrence for help. The friar devises a plan for them to reunite but it goes wrong, leading to the tragic deaths of both Romeo and Juliet.
