PRINCIPLES OF PHYSICS II
Romania: Science and Culture
June 16 – July 22, 2017
SUMMER TERM B
THELOCATION:
The 5-week trip will be based in Craiova, Romania's
6th largest city locatedin the southwestern part of the
country, and in the heart of the Balkan Peninsula.
Living and studying in Craiova provides ample
opportunity to study the major historical, political,
religious, architectural, andscientific developments of
Romania and understand how this convergence of
cultures and traditions are making the country a
technologically and strategically important
state. Romania has produced an extraordinary
number of scientists and engineers whose work has
positively impacted the lives of millions around the
world. This program allows students to explore the
field of physics in an experiential setting, and trips
throughout the host city and country will allow
students to study physics in a laboratory setting, as
well as its use in daily life.

 Trips to Bucharest, Sinaia, Deva, Brasov, etc.
 Excursion to the Transylvania Region, Peleș
castle, Dracula's castle, Corvin castle, etc.

to Trajan Bridge, Danube Gorge, and Iron
Gates Hydropower Plant
 Trip to the Buffalo Reserve andNationalPark
 Tour the most expensive administrative
building in the world: Palace of Parliament

APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Application form and non-refundable $500.00 deposit
due by: February 27, 2017
PROGRAM FEE: $1,740.00
Includes:
 5 weeks in-country
 Lodging for the duration of the program

Bucharest

COURSES AND CREDIT HOURS:
Students will earn 6 credit hours of PHYS coursework:
PHYS 2212s – Principles of Physics II (4)
PHYS 3520s – Solving Problems in Physics (2)

PROGAM REQUIREMENTS:
This program is open to students who are in good
academic standing at the time of application. Students
should complete PHYS 2211 with a minimum grade of
“C” prior to program departure.
PAYMENT SCHEDULE:
DEPOSIT: $500.00 due February 27, 2017. (This
amount will apply to the Program Fees. If a student’s
application is not accepted, deposit will be refundedto
student.)
 1st PAYMENT: $800.00 due March 27, 2017
 2nd PAYMENT: $387.00 + $53.00 mandatory
insurance fee due April 17, 2017.
All deposits andprogram payments shouldbe made
through the Georgia Southern University online

REFUND POLICY:
