This document provides an overview of assessment centers and their components. Assessment centers assess multiple people at the same time using various exercises and methods to evaluate them on key dimensions. They are designed for specific purposes like managerial potential identification, promotion, or development. Common exercises include in-basket simulations and leaderless group discussions. Assessors are trained to observe and rate participants on dimensions like communication, leadership, and problem-solving that vary depending on the assessment center's purpose. Assessment centers use multiple exercises and ratings to provide valid multi-dimensional assessments.
Interest in integrated STEM curricula has grown recently, but there is little research on its impact. This presentation examines differences in performance on an engineering design assessment of 8th grade students who did or did not participate in a series of engineering focused modules during middle school as part of their regular curriculum. The students’ in the school that included the curriculum scored higher on three of four dimensions measured on the scoring rubric: Depth of thinking, expertise needed to create a solution, and the use and interpretation of data. These outcomes were independent of the student’s fifth grade achievement level. The implications of these results for the integrated STEM curriculum student and for assessing engineering design process are discussed.
The document summarizes labor agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers union from 2007-2015. It discusses the key issues in each negotiation period such as wages, benefits, job security, and healthcare costs. In 2007, a strike occurred as GM sought to reduce costs and the UAW fought to maintain benefits. The recession hurt GM's profits and they received a government bailout in 2009. Later negotiations in 2011 and 2015 focused on profit sharing and investing in U.S. plants as the economy recovered.
This document introduces Gabriel Sanabria and summarizes some key aspects of his background and interests. It states that he grew up in a housing project in New York City, where the diversity of races and ethnicities helped shape who he became. It mentions that he enjoys donating his time to help others in need, as the city once helped him when he was homeless and struggling with addiction. It also briefly outlines some of his hobbies, including his dogs, DJing, camping with his family, and his early low-wage jobs as a dishwasher and pizza delivery driver.
