2. When we all have our own idea’s?
How Many times have you sat down with your colleagues
to discuss what needs to be done only to have 10
different views and no way forward.
Or worse run around in circles often not addressing the
route cause or the real concerns/issues, or even start
making allowances for failures of people, systems etc.
Why? Because everyone has their own agenda’s; political,
demands of the role, avoidance of work, these are just
some of the reasons.
This happened to me, so I went back to the drawing
board? With a R.O.C.K.E.T
3. Start Simple, with the greatest intentions
The Biggest problem is we are not
pointing in the same direction?
In other words start off with what you
and your customers truly want! No
matter the state of your business,
your systems or your people.
4. R.O.C.K.E.T
‘ We’re going to the moon, so lets make a plan to go to the
moon, not to get off the ground, not to get out of earths
atmosphere all the way there and back ’
The Moon is the mission, and what we‘really’ want to happen,
in an ideal world (which is rare, like a moon landing).
But if we don’t all recognise and verbalise the highest
standards/quality we are deluding ourselves, because this
leads to, managing in waste and compromising, before we
have even contemplated what it is we ‘really’ need to do (we
get stuck on the ground). Instead we tie ourselves down to the
problems and can’t see past them, which drives a closed
mindset thinking and doing:
‘Our systems aren’t set up for this’, ‘We can’t manage
behaviour’, ‘Our supplier can’t handle the output’ etc.
5. R.O.C.K.E.T
Rocket is a simple acronym to help drive preparation for change.
R is for Reality:
Be real about where we are now and what that looks like,
acknowledge the truth embrace it, and commit to it being the past!
O is for organization:
Who are the key stakeholders, the behaviours we don’t want to see
What’s stopping us going forward is it the culture of our company?
C is for Cost, Benefit, Analysis.
Do your due diligence, cost now versus the cost in the future, the
benefits including tangible and intangible.

K is for Knowledge:
Who has the necessary skills, influence to make change happen. Do we need to buy that knowledge
or do we have it ‘in house’.
E is for Education:
Who do we need to educate, in the change, and truly commit to the future.
T is for Time:
Ensure the plan works over the time frame and drive forward, is this now a project(s) or a drive for
real change or do we not have enough to proceed?(Not enough answers to ROCKET)
8. R.O.C.K.E.T
‘Greater clarity around the way
forward will turn dreams into plans,
plans into action, action into change.’
R.O.C.K.E.T will help drive what you
truly want, into change or into a
project(s) or convince yourselves that
you as a business are not ready, by
galvanising everyone's ideas into a
simple format that everyone can
follow and have input into, this will
then benefit your business by ensuring
concepts are thoroughly thought
through.
Thank you I hope this thought provoking.DPS2017
