Public
Relations
One thing we love more than chocolate is reading. Books,
magazines, newspapers, the back of a cereal box...you name
it, we read it. Unfortunately for us that can lead to a cluttered
desk piled high with aforementioned magazines, newspapers
and from time to time, cereal boxes! But fortunately for you, it
also means that we know exactly what it is that journalists and
editors are looking for and can produce quality press releases
and copy that are sure to generate interest.
Aries (Mar21/Apr20) Your usual get-up-
and-go attitude hits a snag this week, as you
run into an obstacle you don’t think you can
move. But that’s not like you. Before you
know it you’ll have things in hand and once
again you’ll find yourself on the other side of
a problem. You’ll not fret long over a broken
date when you discover what was behind the
cancellation. Your sunny disposition gets an
additional boost from someone who’s
admired you from a distance.
Taurus (Apr21/May21) You’d be better off
putting your passions into a pet project
rather than brooding over a setback.
Working on something you love takes all
your focus and concentration and the next
thing you know you’ll be wrapped up in all
the praise you’ll receive for your
accomplishment. A congenial person is
instrumental in helping you get somewhere
you want to go.
Gemini (May22/Jun21) When a discussion
with a friend starts to get heated, you’d be
wise to stop talking and start listening.
Somewhere along the line you missed what
this person was trying to say. Once they see
that you’re paying attention and want to help
them deal with their issues, all will be well.
Together you’ll come up with a workable
plan and a stronger bond.
Cancer (Jun22/Jul23) Happily, you’re more
inclined towards improving your home than
towards catching your 15 minutes of fame.
While you focus on finding furniture or small
items to spruce up your décor, a friend is
flirting with getting noticed by the media.
Your job will be to have a safety net ready
when things don’t play out the way your
friend hopes. A temporary inconvenience or
setback is unsettling, but you handle it nicely
by making the most of the extra time you’re
given.
Leo (Jul24/Aug23) You’re in a reasonably
good position to bargain for something you
want now. The main problem seems to be
deciding exactly what you want to offer
before you start negotiating. Give this some
thought and you’ll realise you already have
something you’re eager to be rid of. With that
in play, everyone wins, so what could be
better? When a passing flirtation captures
your interest you’ll be on your way to an
exciting adventure and the possibility of a
more long-term relationship.
Virgo (Aug24/Sep23) Although you’ve
more than a few frustrations to deal with,
don’t take them out on the people around
you. You can become quite a pain in
situations like this, so stop before it gets to
that point. Choose one trusted friend to talk
to and get your problems aired. You’ll feel
better and they’ll have a solid understanding
of what’s bothering you. You will get friendly
support from a surprising source later in the
week when someone who’s been away comes
back to town.
Libra (Sep24/Oct23) Although you start out
feeling feisty and argumentative, by the end
of the week you’ll have returned to being
your normal congenial and amenable self. A
day out or a get-together with friends and
relatives will bring special pleasure to all
concerned. Just taking a day out from your
normal routine is refreshing enough. Don’t
get so swept up in the moment that you lose
control of your purse or wallet. You can have
fun and stay on budget too.
Scorpio (Oct24/Nov22) It’s not like you to
lose your cool, but something’s simmering at
the moment that could push you over the
edge. Take a moment to collect yourself
before you get pulled into a confrontation.
Whether a carefully constructed plan fell
through or a friend let you down, it’s not the
end of the world. You recover from whatever
setback stronger than before and full of new
ideas. An unexpected invitation takes your
mind off less interesting routines.
Sagittarius (Nov23/Dec21) You’ll be doing
a balancing act this week and walking the
fine line between over-indulgence and
thinking you don’t have enough. It can be a
blurry place, but you’ve the good sense to
know how much you can comfortably spend
without putting yourself in debt. When in
doubt imagine how you’ll feel when the bill
arrives. If the idea scares you, you’ll know
what to do. An energy boost at the week’s
start means you’ll get a lot done with little
stress.
Capricorn (Dec22/Jan20) You’ll be buzzing
with exciting ideas about a new project when
you visit a DIY shop or come upon a
catalogue. Figure out what you’ll need to
acquire if you decide to jump in with both
feet and also do your sums and work out if
you can afford it. Can you borrow or barter
for some of the things that seem out of reach?
Look up a friend who’s been plodding along.
Being out of touch for too long is unkind.
You’re just the person to give them a lift.
Aquarius (Jan21/Feb19) Have you heard
the call of the great outdoors? Do you have a
friend who’s been waiting to spend time with
you? Take care of both of these by planning a
spur of the moment outing or get-together.
You’ll have fun catching up on all their news
while you see some sights. A downhearted
relative needs a boost. Plan something you
can do together that you know will appeal to
them even if it isn’t your cup of tea. They’ll
appreciate your thoughtfulness.
Pisces (Feb20/Mar20) You may feel
weighed down by a friend who talks too
much or who just doesn’t get your drift when
you talk. Some communication gaps can’t be
easily bridged, so you could decide to spend
less time together. There’s no need for bad
feelings about this. If you get on each other’s
nerves, you’re better off apart. A sensible
level of physical activity is good for you. A
daily walk may be all you need to keep your
mind fresh and your body tuned.

I THINK the fashion houses will have to readjust their
seasons to accommodate our erratic weather. With lighter
pockets, tighter budgets and fresh memories of summer
downpours we just aren’t willing to splurge on strappy tops
and sleeveless dresses for what might turn out to be a one-
day sun event.
There are plenty of women that are quite happy to keep
their arms under wraps, no matter how hot it gets. In many
cases, sleeveless should come with a warning sign.
Depending on the cut, even the slimmest of arms can appear
pinched or squeezed. Irish women’s upper arms aren’t used
to be being out on their own that much either and they can
be prone to blotchiness, dry patches and generally not
looking too ab fab.
We obsess about keeping our tummy tucked into place
but very often a smooth stomach is let down by flabby and
flappy arms. While I’m a firm believer in adding some
bottled glow to arms when they are about to go on public
display, there’s a nifty solution that will allow you to get
more wear out of your sleeveless shift dresses or put the
dress you would buy if it had sleeves into your shopping
basket.
It’s no surprise that Canopi was designed in Ireland. It’s a
simple and seamless elegant solution that attaches to your
bra and comes in two fabrics, microfibre and mesh and in
basic colours such as black, white, grey, navy and cream.
The Canopi sleeves will help boost your confidence and
give new life to your existing wardrobe. RRP €39.95 Canopi
is available in Brown Thomas, Galway.

INTENSIVE bright turquoises team with dazzling silvers and strong, bright yellow golds
feature strongly in the current collection of jewellery by Thomas Sabo.
The range has some great statement silver pieces from long-length necklaces with medieval-
style pendants to rich turquoise discs. The strong colour works equally well with bright gold
or sleek silver.
Charm bracelets are another favourite and these can easily be worn layered with coloured
or link-style braclets.
