Rivers of Joy Baptist Church in Minford, Ohio aims to teach the word of God so that people can examine what Christ has commanded, which is to share the gospel, glorify God, and do spiritual service.
Christian prayer involves communicating with God through Jesus Christ, drawing on the teachings and example of Jesus found in the Bible. Prayer is a complex topic with different understandings among Christians about what it means to pray and how prayer should be practiced. Overall, Christian prayer is about developing a personal relationship with God through speaking and listening in faith.
The document discusses the church of Christ and its core beliefs and practices based on teachings from the New Testament. It asserts that the church of Christ has no creed but Christ, no rule of faith but the Bible, and only engages in worship and practices authorized by the New Testament such as baptism, communion, singing, and giving. The local church congregation is the only religious organization endorsed.
Have faith in God! This document discusses the pillars of faith from 1990-1999 in Bonn UBF Ministry which include Bible Fellowship, Prayer Fellowship, Common Life, Mission Journeys, Testimony Writing, Co-working for World Mission, and Pioneering ministry. It encourages having faith in God.

The document summarizes the key points from Colossians chapter 3 verse 15. It discusses that the peace of Christ should rule in our hearts, that we were called into one body, and that we should be thankful. It analyzes the Greek words used in the verse and explains that the peace of Christ should act as a judge in our hearts rather than letting other people rule over us. It encourages believers to let the peace of Christ control them at all times and to develop an attitude of gratitude.
This document contains summaries of PowerPoint talks about the Holy Communion (also known as the Lord's Supper or Eucharist). It discusses that the Holy Communion commemorates Jesus Christ's death for our sins, anticipates His future coming, and is a way for Christians to proclaim the Lord's death which gives freedom from sin. The document also summarizes that when taking the Holy Communion, Christians should examine their hearts and discern the Lord's body, treating it as a special event remembering Christ's unique sacrifice on the cross.
The document discusses the worship of the New Testament church based on Acts 2:42. It describes two kinds of worship - true/acceptable worship in spirit and truth, and false/unacceptable worship. The acts of worship for the New Testament church are identified as: 1) preaching/teaching, 2) singing, 3) giving, 4) taking communion (the Lord's supper), and 5) praying. Each act is discussed in more detail with supporting Bible passages provided. The conclusion exhorts worshipping God as the New Testament church did through these acts and becoming a Christian if not already.
This document contains prayers and passages from the Bible used in the Order of Holy Communion. It includes a prayer of confession acknowledging sins and asking for forgiveness. It also includes Jesus' words when instituting the Lord's Supper, commanding believers to eat bread and drink wine in remembrance of him. The document guides participants to humbly partake of communion and gives thanks afterward.

When we examine the establishment, examples and correction given concerning the Lord’s Supper we understand that our Lord Jesus desires that Christians must partake of the Lord’s supper together on the first day of the week.
The document outlines the liturgical church calendar including Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter and Pentecost. It asks how believers will live out and express their faith in Jesus' revelation, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension in 2017. It quotes passages from Galatians and Hebrews about faith working through love and faith being the assurance of things hoped for and evidence of things unseen.
The document discusses two coming moves of the Holy Spirit across churches in the coming decades. The first will be a restoration of baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit in churches open to receive it. The second will result in people leaving historic churches to plant new churches. While these moves will be called revivals, the document says they are steps toward the true revival, which will begin when those emphasizing the word and Spirit come together in churches, eclipsing any revivals witnessed before. It expresses a prayer for God to pour out his Spirit on all flesh.
Bangsar Lutheran Church Worship Ministry - Shared UnderstandingsLeigh Wong
A document to elucidate the understandings and paradigms we share regarding the worship ministry at Bangsar Lutheran Church, Kuala Lumpur (www.bangsarlutheran.org)
We must take heed to what we have learned in the past (Heb. 2:1). There is a danger in drifting away from the truth (Heb. 2:2, 3). Therefore, we must be reminded of the things we already know (1 Cor. 4:17).
One thing we need to remind ourselves, and teach to our neighbors, is the basic truth about New Testament Christianity. There is a lot of false teaching out there and people have the wrong concept (Matt. 7:15-20). It is our duty to expose it and teach them the truth (Eph. 5:11).
This lesson will notice that New Testament Christians: (1) Believed in Christ; (2) Submitted to the plan of salvation; (3) Were just Christians; (4) Were not part of any denominations.
The document discusses two coming moves of the Holy Spirit across churches. The first will restore baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit in churches open to receive it. The second will result in people leaving historic churches to plant new churches. While these moves will seem significant, the document says an even greater revival will occur when those emphasizing the word and Spirit come together in churches, eclipsing all revivals witnessed before. It prays for the Spirit to be poured out on all people so God's glory covers the earth.
The document discusses what truly measures the strength of a church. It argues that outward factors like buildings, programs, and committees are not accurate measures. Instead, a church's strength is better measured by how well it functions according to biblical metaphors: as a body where members use their gifts; a family that loves one another; a temple that praises God; a kingdom submitted to Christ; and a pure bride of Christ. True strength comes from inwardly living up to how the bible describes the church, not superficial outward signs alone.
This document discusses an upcoming pasta dinner fundraiser on April 25th to raise money for new carpet. It also contains a passage about two distinct upcoming moves of the Holy Spirit that will impact churches. The first will be a restoration of spiritual gifts, and the second will result in people leaving historic churches to plant new ones. However, a coming together of those emphasizing the word and spirit in churches will mark the beginning of a greater revival than anything witnessed before.
This document outlines the different eras of God's relationship with humanity, from Eden to the present Kingdom era. It compares key aspects like spiritual life, motivation, obedience, failure/success, and purpose. The Eden era showed humanity's failure and need for salvation. The Law era locked people in sin until Christ could set them free. Now in the Kingdom era, Christians have perfect spiritual life, motivated by love with perfect obedience, indwelt by the Spirit forever.
The document explores the "times of refreshing" mentioned in Acts 3:19. It discusses how Jesus heals the lame man in Acts 3, demonstrating God's power and strength. It says that through faith in Christ, we can become spiritually whole. It then explains that repentance involves turning from sins, while conversion means being transformed into a new creation. Finally, it concludes that through knowing God's presence is with us in Christ, our hearts can be refreshed each day as we draw nearer to God and glorify Him.
This document discusses similarities and differences between the Gospel of John and the Synoptic Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. It notes that while John shares some events with the Synoptics, like the feeding of the 5000 and the anointing of Jesus, the details differ. John also lacks many elements found in the Synoptics, such as the baptism of Jesus, his temptation, and the institution of the Lord's Supper. The document then examines questions around the authorship of John and the structure of the Gospel.
The document discusses the key differences between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant established by Jesus Christ. The Old Covenant was written on stone tablets and its laws brought death, but the New Covenant, proclaimed by Jesus at the Last Supper, is written on the hearts of men by the blood of Christ. While the Old Covenant came to an end, the New Covenant is everlasting. It reconciles humanity with God and forgives sins through the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus.
This document provides an overview of the four canonical gospels of the New Testament - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It discusses the intended audiences and key themes of each gospel. The main points are:
- The gospels are based on the words and deeds of Jesus as witnessed by his early followers and are meant to convey what the early Christian community believed about Jesus.
- Matthew, Mark, and Luke are known as the synoptic gospels because they share similar narratives of Jesus' life and ministry. John's gospel has a more theological focus.
- Each gospel was written for a different intended audience - Matthew for Jewish Christians, Mark for persecuted Christians, Luke for Gent
070813 The Risen Christ :The power in our christian faithterry5428
The document discusses the importance of faith in the risen Christ for Christians. It makes three key points:
1) Jesus was raised from the dead by God, demonstrating that he conquered death and lives eternally in heaven.
2) The disciples' faith in the risen Lord empowered them to withstand persecution and perform miracles.
3) For our faith in the risen Christ to be effective, we must actively practice and declare our faith each day through believing in miracles, living victoriously, and proclaiming our identity as righteous and redeemed in Christ.
The document discusses the importance and power of intercessory prayer. It provides examples from the Bible of praying for others, including Jesus praying for Peter and Paul praying for believers. Intercessory prayer involves praying for specific people, including those who are not believers. God hears our prayers, though answers may not always be immediate. We should pray fervently and specifically for wisdom, spiritual growth, protection, and salvation of souls. Intercessory prayer connects us to God's power and allows Him to work on behalf of those we pray for.

The document discusses the importance of church and what characteristics a good church should possess. It states that church is where believers can encourage one another, be equipped with scriptural truth that sets them free from selfishness, undergo the radical transformation needed to be like Christ, and foster meaningful relationships. A good church focuses on God and his overarching narrative while still valuing small acts of service done in Jesus' name.
The document discusses the Christian practice of communion (also called The Lord's Supper), which involves eating bread and drinking wine/juice in remembrance of Jesus' life and sacrifice. It explains that Jesus commanded followers to continue celebrating communion in remembrance of him until his return. The bread represents Jesus' body and the wine/juice represents his blood shed for the forgiveness of sins. Partaking in communion allows Christians to reflect on who Jesus is and what he has done for humanity.
Why We Worship as Followers of Jesus by Jon Gausjonathangaus
This document discusses reasons why Christians worship God as followers of Jesus. It notes that humans were created to worship, and that currently everyone worships something. Through becoming new creations in Christ, believers can properly reflect God's glory. The document encourages pursuing an encounter with God in worship rather than just an experience, and notes that worship should lead to doxology or praise of God. The goal of worship teams should be to point people to Jesus and then disappear, using the gifts and tools God has provided for that season.
The Lord's supper was instituted by Jesus before His death, burial, and resurrection. In this lesson we examine when we are to keep the feast and what do the emblems represent to us. Both slides and audio can be enjoyed together at www.cmcoc.org Sermon by: Brian Birdow
This document discusses Charles Whisnant's method of studying the Bible since 1982. It lists various books and tools he has used for Bible study, including commentaries, concordances, and study Bibles. It provides examples of how to use cross-references when studying a passage, such as looking at related concepts and words in other parts of the Bible. The document emphasizes allowing Scripture to interpret itself using cross-references and considering the context of the passage and book.
Jesus returns to Galilee and his fame spreads throughout the region. On the Sabbath, Jesus goes to the synagogue in Nazareth where he was brought up and reads from the prophet Isaiah, proclaiming that the Scripture has been fulfilled. However, the people reject him and drive him out of the city wanting to throw him off a cliff. Jesus then goes to Capernaum to teach.
The document provides background information on Luke 4:14-30, which describes Jesus preaching in the synagogue in Nazareth. It summarizes Jesus' ministry in Galilee prior to this event, which had grown popular through his preaching and miracles. At the synagogue, Jesus reads from Isaiah and claims the prophecy is fulfilled in him, but the people reject this due to misconceptions. Jesus corrects their thinking that a prophet is never accepted at home. The document analyzes each section of the scripture passage and provides historical context.
1. Jesus returns to Nazareth where he was brought up, following his time in the desert. As was his custom, he attends the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stands up to read from scripture.
2. The passage describes Jesus now being led fully by the Holy Spirit after emerging from the desert, rather than being at his own disposal. Though in a familiar place among those he knew, he was empowered to proclaim the scripture in a new way under the Spirit's guidance.
3. Jesus faced the challenge of proclaiming a higher calling in a familiar community, but having fully submitted to the Spirit's leading, he was able to see Nazareth and its people in
This document provides commentary on Luke 4, which describes Jesus being tempted by the devil in the wilderness for 40 days after his baptism. It discusses various interpretations of the temptation and provides analysis on key aspects, including:
1) Jesus was tempted as a human being to undergo moral probation, though without sin.
2) The wilderness location emphasized his solitude and desolation as he faced this spiritual conflict at the start of his ministry.
3) The temptation confronted Jesus on the nature of his messianic role and how he would fulfill God's purpose, testing his identity and use of power.
4) Even the holiest are still subject to temptation, though the form changes based on one's
The document provides commentary on 1 Peter 1:18-19, discussing the concept of redemption. It summarizes that believers should know they were not redeemed by perishable things like silver or gold, but by the precious blood of Christ. It explores the biblical concept of redemption, citing passages that discuss God redeeming his people from bondage through payment of a price. The commentary notes that in the New Testament, redemption requires the payment of a moral debt through Christ's atoning death, liberating humanity from sin.
1) The document provides five commands for believers: have hope in God, keep holiness, always revere God, learn to love one another, and crave the Word of God.
2) It explains how to crave the Word of God by remembering it is our life source, getting rid of sin like malice and deceit, and admitting our need for nourishment like newborn babies need milk.
3) Believers are encouraged to pursue growth through regularly reading and studying the Bible, and to be thankful for God's grace by reflecting on the blessings of their salvation.
1) Believers are urged to abstain from sinful desires and conduct themselves honorably among non-believers.
2) Christians should live excellent and upright lives so that non-believers have no reason to slander them as evildoers.
3) Through observing Christians' good works, non-believers may come to glorify God when he judges at the final day.
Francis Schaeffer argues that evangelicals must take truth seriously and preach and practice biblical truth, even when it is costly. He makes three main points:
1. Evangelicals must accept and preach propositional biblical truth rather than viewing religious truth as only psychological. They must take a stand for truth and against what contradicts God's word.
2. Evangelicals must carefully consider the purity of the visible church and what church discipline and living according to doctrine means.
3. If evangelicals practice "latitudinarianism" or compromise central truths, they will lose credibility with a skeptical world that does not believe truth is possible. They must practice what they preach about truth.
The document provides guidance on properly understanding and interpreting the Bible. It discusses that the Bible should be read with faith in order to truly understand God's message and purpose. While it does not contain a complete knowledge of God, it can develop understanding and trust through the Holy Spirit. It also cautions that experiences should be tested against what is found in Scripture and discusses several methods and attitudes for properly studying and applying the Bible.
1) To understand the Bible, one must first become a believer in Jesus Christ through salvation.
2) Read the Bible starting with the Gospels of Mark and John to understand Christ. Read the rest of the New Testament then move to the Old Testament.
3) The Bible was written by human authors but was directed by God. It is not just a book but gives the message of Jesus Christ and salvation from sin.
The document discusses the importance of preaching Christ and focusing sermons on the gospel message. It provides numerous quotes from Charles Spurgeon emphasizing that sermons must have Christ at the center and that leaving Him out is unacceptable. The document also discusses the benefits of the lectio continua method of preaching, where the preacher works verse-by-verse through entire books of the Bible. Finally, it addresses what it means to preach the whole counsel of God, which involves proclaiming the message of the gospel of the kingdom and balancing all aspects of Scripture.
This document discusses the pastor's perspective on altar calls and invitations to salvation given at the end of church services. The pastor does not believe altar calls are an effective or wise approach to evangelism for several reasons. First, it can lead people to falsely believe they are saved based on a brief moment of prayer, without sufficient time to test the credibility of their profession of faith. Second, the church service is primarily for believers, not evangelism of non-believers. The pastor believes the best approach is for believers to have gospel conversations with non-believers outside of the church service and allow the Holy Spirit to bring them to salvation.
This document provides summaries of and commentary on several theological topics. It discusses the doctrine of divine impassibility, or the idea that God does not experience emotions or change in the way humans do. It presents the view that while Scripture describes God with human emotions, these should be understood metaphorically rather than literally, to preserve God's immutability. It also summarizes critiques of this view and alternatives proposed by open theists, who believe God experiences emotions and can change in response to creatures.
This document summarizes and critiques John Calvin's arguments against the use of icons in Christian worship. It outlines Calvin's view that any depiction of God is forbidden as it distorts our understanding of God's transcendence. The document argues that Calvin overstates his case and ignores evidence from Scripture and history that supports a limited use of religious images. It examines Calvin's failure to adequately address the decisions of the Seventh Ecumenical Council that affirmed icons, and his flawed assumptions about the aniconic nature of early Jewish and Christian worship.
God's plan of salvation is meant to produce holiness in believers. Salvation rescues people from sin, its guilt, power, and eventual presence. While salvation provides forgiveness, it also places believers in union with Christ to be transformed into his moral likeness through the Holy Spirit. The purpose of salvation is because of human sin, which is any lack of conformity to God's law and rebellion against him. God saves people so they can be increasingly conformed to Christ's righteousness, love, humility, and other virtues. Ultimately, God is in the business of holiness - he disciplines believers so they can grow into full Christ-likeness.
The document discusses the importance of expository preaching, providing 4 reasons why failing to do exposition is problematic.
1. It usurps the authority of God over the mind and soul by not explaining God's word. God's truth and word should reign over people's lives, not the preacher's insights.
2. It usurps the lordship of Christ over the church. Christ can only exercise his authority as head of the church by being the one who speaks to the church through preaching.
3. It hinders the work of the Holy Spirit, as the Spirit only uses the word of God as the means of salvation, sanctification, instruction, and comfort. Where script
The document outlines the theological beliefs and positions of Charles E. Whisnant. It begins by stating that Whisnant identifies as a Calvinist, Reformed, and Reformed Baptist, but does not fully agree with certain views within those traditions. Whisnant affirms that he is a Baptist and has closely followed the teachings of John MacArthur, Charles Spurgeon, and George L. Norris for decades. The document then lists Whisnant's core beliefs, including the doctrine of salvation by grace alone through faith alone, a future for Israel, a rapture of believers, a seven-year tribulation, and a literal 1,000 year kingdom of God. It concludes by outlining 17 specific beliefs around
The document summarizes key aspects of orality and linguistic description and prescription. It defines orality as thought and verbal expression in societies where writing and print are unfamiliar to most of the population. It describes linguistic description as the objective analysis and description of how a language is spoken by a group. Linguistic prescription seeks to define standard language forms and give advice on effective language use, drawing on descriptive research and subjective aesthetics. Prescriptivism is the practice of championing one variety of a language over others, implying some forms are incorrect or improper.
This document provides an overview of spiritual gifts as described in the Bible. It discusses the seven motivational gifts mentioned in Romans 12: prophecy, serving, teaching, exhorting, giving, organizing, and mercy. For each gift, it provides a biblical example, guidelines from Romans 12, and a life principle to apply. It also discusses how spiritual gifts work through the Holy Spirit's empowerment and should be used to demonstrate God's love. Spiritual gifts come in three categories: motivational gifts which shape perspective, ministry gifts which involve serving the church, and manifestation gifts which demonstrate God's power. All gifts are valued as each member is important to the body of Christ functioning according to God's will.

Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.

The pervasiveness of Lying in today's World.pptxniwres
In our interconnected world, lies weave through the fabric of society like hidden threads. We encounter them in politics, media, personal relationships, and even within ourselves. The prevalence of deception raises profound questions about truth, trust, and the human condition.
Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

Tales of This and Another Life - Chapters.pdfMashaL38
This book is one of the best of the translated ones, for it has a warning character for all those who find themselves in the experience of material life. Irmão X provides a shrewd way of describing the subtleties and weaknesses that can jeopardize our intentions, making us more attentive and vigilant by providing us with his wise pages, reminding us between the lines of the Master's words: "Pray and watch."
The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.
