Why is this area so effective for these players?
• When players receive the ball in this area they open up their bodies to
receive the ball so their first touch takes them forward
• They then have the option of bending the ball to the far post with their
right foot, driving it low and hard to the far post with their left
foot, taking the defender on 1 v 1 or setting up a teammate.
• The options that right footed players have in this channel are the same
for a left footed player in the other channel and RobinVan Persie uses this
area incredibly well in the Barclays Premier League

• Notice how he has his body open, scores with his left with
a hard shot to the far post, his right with a bending shot to
