(RICS)
Last winter, Heartland Alliance Refugee and Immigrant Human Care Service (RICS) gave about
250 winter clothes to 250 refugees and helped them survived in a serve winter season ---“Chiberia”
in Chicago 2014.
Recently, Chicago's winter is getting colder and colder every year. The Weather Channel’s
prediction this winter will be another “Chiberia” in Chicago. This winter, over 200 of new arrival
adults and children are coming to Chicago, and it will be their first winter here. Most refugees come
from the tropical weather countries and are not prepared for the Chicago winter. They have lack of
money to support them to purchase winter clothes as well.
Donating your old winter clothes can help refugees survive this coming winter. You can
donate your clothes, scarfs, gloves and boots at our office: 4419 N. Ravenswood Ave,
Chicago, IL, or you can contact to Darwensi Clark dclark@heartlandalliance.org,
773-336-6008. Let us make different for new comers in Chicago.
