FLATIRON APARTMENT New York City, NY completed: 2013
BED-STUY CONDO New York City, NY under construction
TECH COMPANY OFFICES New York City, NY completed: 2014
The renovation of this one-bedroom
apartment in Midtown Manhattan dealt
with the challange of creating flexible
spaces and generous storage within a
small space.
The kitchen and bathroom are enclosed
in a separate volume that detaches itself
from the rest of the space, both physical-
ly and visually.
A tall 12ft (3,5 m) pocket door separates
the living room from the bedroom,
enhancing the flexibility of the floor plan.
The third (and largest) installment of
these tech company offices is played
around a series of floating cubes that
house conference rooms and meeting
areas.
The rest of the open-floor layout is
occupied by a large cafeteria connected
to the main working area, and a small
kitchen located near the welcome desk.
The use of warm tones and reclaimed
barn siding wood counterbalances the
stark, industrial surroundings, allowing
for a more relaxed yet focused working
environment.
