This RFP is for updating the website for Golden Rule Rentals, a small rental company in Eau Claire, Wisconsin that rents primarily to college students. The current website is simple with basic information on rental properties and an application that must be emailed. The proposal recommends implementing features like multiple property listings, printable rental information, an online roommate search, more photos and buttons for ease of use, and an online application form. The goals are to make the user experience easy and streamlined while visually appealing. Success would be measured through a student survey on the new site implementations. The project timeline is estimated to be completed by the end of the fall semester.

1. Project overview
a. This RFP is for the company website Golden Rule Rentals. This is a small
rental company with great potential. We feel that we can help this company
grow with the implementation of our ideas for their company website.
Our goal is to make the potential renter’s experience on the website as smooth
and easy as possible. Eau Claire has a large renters market, which has been
growing for the past several years. Your target group is college students. The
market to rent to college students has dramatically increased as well. UWEC
has an enrollment rate of 9894 students. A total of 61% of Undergrads are living
off campus. The Average Off-Campus rates for room & Board are $6,720.
Median rental rates have increased from $675 a month in 2005, to $750 in 2014.
The average rate to rent to individual college students range from $300 to $350
month.
b. Full description of the current documentation/UI
Your current website seems very simple and could definitely use some
updating. There is a home page and an application page. The home page
displays a picture of the rental property and the price of rent, as well as what is
included in the rent. There is a spot to click for emailing the company and an
application button to go to a page and download an application.

There doesn’t seem to be any type of way to get your site out to the public.
We would like to make suggestions such as:
Use of internet search engines, advertising website at school through
distribution of business cards, use of radio commercials. In addition, we
would like to recommend the implementing a virtual tour of your rentals on
the company website.
d. We want to make the experience of finding a rental as easy as possible for the
college renter. Our ideas for updating your site are as follows:
 Update site for multiple rentals
 Create a button for printing out info for each rental with all detailed
information
 Create an option for students to leave their information on the site in an
attempt to find potential roommates
 Use of more pictures of rental units
 Use of more buttons to get to more information

The overall goal of this project is to make the experience of the user as easy and
streamlined as possible, while at the same time displaying the information in a way
that is pleasing to the eye.
