CBRNE/ HAZMAT Instructor
Gresham Harris was assigned to the Hazmat department as an Instructor to teach advanced HAZMAT and
emergency entry level HAZMAT to first responders for a variety of Federal, State and Local Government
agencies and subjects related to Weapons of Mass Destruction. Mr. Harris specifically was responsible for
the biological terrorism lecture and taught specific HAZMAT related equipment for detection and
identification. Mr. Harris also was assigned to the Technical Emergency Response Training Team, which
consisted of awareness level of HAZMAT related duties and responsibilities. He taught and evaluated
subjects related to Chemical Nuclear and Biological related scenarios that was specifically focused toward
civilian first responders. During his tenure he was chosen to participate with the TOPOFF 4 exercise. This
exercise is conducted with FEMA as an evaluation of Municipal, County, State and Federal agencies
responding to a possible terrorist incident. Provided advice, assistance and guidance to all elements in

Security exercise and evaluation program.

First Sergeant Harris main responsibilities was to provide leadership, guidance, management, training
and supervision to a Company of an authorized strength of 189 personnel. Mr. Harris conducted training
classes for personnel in areas of development related to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and
Explosives (CBRNE) training. Other areas of training included Force Protection, Physical Security, and New
Equipment. Mr. Harris managed the daily administrative duties for personnel development. Mr. Harris was
the principle advisor and technical expert to the Company Commander/Director in all of the related areas.
Specific information related to this position is as follows. BIDS is a mobile laboratory that rapidly detects
and identifies field concentrations of biological warfare agents based upon their physical and biological
properties. Mr. Harris conducted and supervised numerous external simulation exercises and was the
primary contributor with the development and final distribution of a standard operations procedure and
