Introduction
My name is Heather Meyer. I am a seasoned, equine professional seeking
an opportunity to continue my practice of mindful, multidisciplinary horsemanship. I
have been studying various approaches to horsemanship for many years and am
currently looking for work as a trainer, horsemanship educator, stallion handler,
exercise rider, and/or equestrian performing artist. Although I am a classically
educated rider, I also have a very strong background in both western and natural
horsemanship. This diversity has presented me with many interesting opportunities
and has helped me build a unique and dynamic career. My skill set is particularly well
suited for rehabilitative work and equine behavior modification as I generally educate
my horses using cognitive communicative processes rather than training methods
that are based solely on response conditioning.
Working with horses has gifted me with a strong set of non-routine cognitive
skills that have enabled me to be successful in many other areas of my life. I have a
strong aptitude for graphic design and web development, and am about to complete
my B.S. in Information Technology with a 4.0 GPA. Hard working and solution-
oriented by nature, I also tend to be very focused and resourceful, which are traits
that have benefited me on numerous occasions throughout my career. I try to view
life from different perspectives, and seize opportunities to grow both intellectually and
intuitively whenever I can. My biggest aspiration is to one day posses the means
to develop a facility that supports and promotes the artistry and life enhancement
benefits of horsemanship in an experietial educational setting for the general public.
