Summary______________________________________________________________________________________
I am a candidate who has recently completed his pastoral internship and has a strong background in academics,
teaching, biblical exposition, worship, and discipleship ministries. My studies have prepared me to assess current
social and cultural trends and my ministry experiences have enabled me to contextualize my preaching, teaching,
worship, and discipleship in a faithfully biblical manner to a variety of ages and educational/social backgrounds
accordingly. My mission is to preach and teach the gospel in a compelling manner and to encourage spiritual
formation through deep, personal relationships in a pluralistic and disconnected 21st
century society.
Education_____________________________________________________________________________________
Westminster Theological Seminary – Master of Divinity, 2015 – My studies included Church History, Apologetics,
Systematic Theology, Hermeneutics, Biblical Studies, Counseling, and Homiletics. Other relevant coursework
includes Contextual Theology, Cultural Analysis, Worship, Leadership, and Christianity and the Arts. I developed
masters-level research and writing skills for term papers, exegetical skills through major exegetical papers for my
biblical studies coursework, and expository and preaching skills.
Grove City College – B.A. History, 2011, Cum Laude, High Honors in History, Phi Alpha Theta History Honorary – I
acquired writing and research skills by completing research term papers, including a capstone Senior Research
Seminar. I developed public speaking skills by delivering various class presentations and by presenting three
academic papers at Phi Alpha Theta’s annual regional conference. Class seminars and discussions also encouraged
me to develop refined critical thinking and creative problem solving skills, and to address controversial topics in a
professional but persuasive manner. Some notable coursework included Cultural Anthropology, Law and Society,
Science and Faith, Metaphysics, Political Philosophy and Theology, and courses on American social and cultural
history.
Ministry Experience_____________________________________________________________________________
City Church Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA – Intern (June 2014-May 2015) – I lead a community group, which
involved teaching a Bible study and leading prayer. I helped write Sunday liturgies and weekly prayer guides, which
communicated the word of God to various age groups and educational backgrounds in understandable but
theologically rich language. I was mentored by the associate pastor through weekly or bi-weekly mentor sessions
and I attended the weekly staff meeting to learn about the daily operations of the church.
Westminster PCA, Butler, PA – Intern (Summer 2012) – I co-led the College and Young Adult group and taught weekly
adult education courses. I went on pastoral visits and was mentored by the church’s shepherding pastor. I led a
weekly Bible study with the Tuesday morning service group. I also helped teach the church's weekly seminar class
on proper and effective worship and reported on its progress to the Session.
Work Experience_______________________________________________________________________________
Westminster Presbyterian Church, Butler, PA – Pastoral Intern (June 1, 2015 – Present) – I am currently involved in
all the roles of a full-time pastor. I preach expository sermons at least once a month at the morning service. I lead or
help lead worship weekly. I taught the communicants class for our middle school teens and our prospective members
class on our church’s core beliefs to adults. I have also led efforts to help visitors become members of our
congregation and connected to our church community. I lead a small group, which ministers to a range of ages with
prayer and study. With our shepherding pastor, I go on a broad range of pastoral visitations, including visits to shut-
ins, hospital patients, and families. I am charge of church communications, including a weekly newsletter and our
website, and I am intimately involved in the planning and administration of the church, a role which includes an
advisory role at officers’ meetings. I am a liaison to Church Without Walls, a community organization of churches
and ministries in Butler which seeks to pool resources to address social problems in our local community. I am also
cooperating with our mission committee to formulate a theology of mission for our church.
Westminster Theological Seminary, Glenside, PA - Variety of Positions (October 2012-May 2015) – General grounds-
keeping duties and general custodial work in the academic center. I worked in the Registrar's Office over two
summers and organized their filing system and executed other administrative tasks. I also worked as a front desk
receptionist in the administration building and in the library.
