Gita Sathianathan has extensive teaching experience as a lecturer at Penn State University where she taught a variety of chemistry courses including organic chemistry, general chemistry, and introductory chemistry. She developed online course materials and maintained laboratory instruments. Sathianathan has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from UC Riverside and research experience there and at Penn State. She has published papers and presented on topics related to organic chemistry synthesis and conformational analysis.
