DISASTER RESPONSE: I was involved in establishing an Evacuation Centre
in Alice Springs for the Kiwirrkurra Community after
their community in Western Australia was flooded
in 2001.
I was part of the team that was sent to assist with
the recovery of Katherine and Daly River in the
Northern Territory when they were flooded in 1998.
I was called into Land Command Headquarters to
carry out the duties of the SO4 responsible for
logistics, tracking movement of troops and
equipment when parts of Indonesia were
devastated by a tsunami in 2004. I reported to the
Chief of Army daily.
I was deployed with AUSMAT to assist with
recovery when Samoa was struck by a tsunami in
2009. I worked closely with the Ministry of Health
and the communities.
I participated in the recovery efforts after the floods
in Central NSW I 2010. I liaised with communities
regarding vector control and water quality.
In 2011 I was selected to deploy with the USS
Cleveland to provide humanitarian assistance to
islands in the Pacific. My role required me to
provide update information for force protection,
work with the governments of Micronesia and
Timor Leste.
I was a member of the recovery team after the
Warrumbungle Bush Fires in 2013.
