This presentation discusses using Response to Intervention (RTI) to provide targeted academic support to students based on their mastery of standards in a unit. It describes strategies for different tiers of students: Tier 1 students who have mastered standards should be accelerated with a more challenging assignment like a DBQ project. Tier 2 students who need reinforcement will complete assignments focusing on summarizing, analyzing fiction, and narrative writing. Tier 3 students who have not yet mastered standards will focus more on vocabulary before reading and then progress to similar summarizing, analyzing, and writing assignments with support.
