The way they talk about each other and how they talk to one another is very beautiful and respectful. They truly want the best for one another. Whenever Rama was exiled for fourteen years, he did not want Sita to go with him because he would rather her stay in a comfortable and safe place. She refused and just wanted to be with him. She kept saying that she could not find refuge and would not be comfortable if she was not with him. This is very respectful and shows true love from both of them. Rama is selfless and wanted to put his wife's needs first, but she wanted to be faithful and loyal to him wherever she was, which required her putting her personal desires aside. Rama and Sita's marriage did not begin like a marriage would today. They had an arranged marriage, but ended up falling in love. In our society, arranged marriages do not happen. However, their relationship can be compared to the idea of marriage today. They value each other and are very selfless in their marriage. This is an important quality for any relationship and is the foundation for a good marriage. They show true love which is very important to have a lasting relationship. Although their marriage did not start the way most marriages would start today, Rama and Sita do uphold most of the same values as marriages do today. .

Hamilton Crossing is a small park of baseball fields, soccer fields, and basketball courts in a school district near the city of Cassville, Georgia. This area became the focus of a planned SPLOST expansion into a grand sporting area that has been currently left in limbo.
In 2019, not much was mentioned about how much money was going to be required for the Hamilton Crossing SPLOST project, but it is estimated the “total cost of planned park infrastructure — including parking and stormwater — [would be] at around $2 million” (Swift, 2018). There were also plans for a $5 million park water feature, a tennis center costing $500,000, and a $6 million double gym. This all totals $13.5 million alone. Some construction was begun, though, and Bartow County Administrator Peter Olson said that, “There's still some money left in the '08 SPLOST that's designated for rec, so that's what we've been using on the grading of what you've seen going on out there” (Swift, 2018). This allowed for grading and similar groundwork to be done in 2019.
There was no formal announcement of the project as a part of a county budget, and County Commissioner Steve Taylor said that there were no plans to borrow money for the project. However, the 2020 budget shows a "2020 SPLOST Project Length Budget" set at $160,500,000.00 (Bartow County, 2020). As of right now, no work is being done in the area, and much of the grading that had been done in early 2019 has begun to wash away and erode. Currently, a pond is roughly completed, but everything else is a desert of red clay created by the leftover ’08 SPLOST. There are no details regarding the amount listed in the 2020 Budget for the SPLOST, though it is $147 million more than just the aforementioned amenities and infrastructure.

I do not believe prenatal testing should be mandatory as it would be a violation of our constitutional rights. In addition, there are serious moral and ethical considerations to be pondered in this matter. "The right to make choices about one's health care is protected, in part, by the right to privacy guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, as well as state constitutions. This includes a right to make certain reproductive choices, such as whether to use genetic testing. It also includes a right to refuse treatment." (Andrews, 1994). Counseling by your obstetrician and/or doctor is available anytime you have a question and should be utilized by anyone no matter what the issue may be. Prenatal testing can cause miscarriage in some cases and a Doctor would be placed in a precarious situation if the testing resulted in the death of a fetus. With an amniocentesis the risk of miscarriage is 1 in 400 and with CVS (Chorionic Villus Sampling) it is about one percent according to the Mayo Clinic (Nierenberg, 2018). Even though the risk is lower for an amniocentesis, it is still there none the less. Imagine being a woman who has been trying to get pregnant for a long time would you want to take that risk? It is possible that she has gone through fertility treatments that are costly, or is getting older and having trouble conceiving. First do no harm is one of the oaths a doctor pledges when they are to become a person within a practice. I feel that this would be a violation of this oath. I also feel that parents have the right to choose what they will or will not do with their bodies. "An entirely different standard of privacy protects personal information. A few court decisions find protection for such information under the constitutional doctrine of privacy, but more commonly, privacy protection against disclosure of personal information is found under common law tort principles. In addition, there is a federal privacy act, as well as state statutes protecting privacy." (Andrews, 1994). Bodily autonomy is of great importance for so many reasons, forcing someone to undergo testing and counseling they do not want is illegal (unless authorized by a court of law).

I do not think that prenatal testing and counseling should be mandatory. Offering this testing to obstetric patients in Texas is mandatory as of now. Working in a lab, I know that no test is 100 percent accurate. There is always a chance of false positives. I believe if this testing was made mandatory, it would lead to more
early pregnancy
terminations. This could lead to "designer" babies where only genetically perfect children were born and those with genetic imperfections would be terminated. This could be seen as a forced cleansing of a population if it were to be mandated by the government.

Tobacco and alcohol use are a personal choice, but they have a foundation in the societal aspect as well. Social norms are what contribute to every persons eventual choices and behavior based on what others have set out for a pattern of acceptability in society. Therefore, if we are to change these habits, we must first look at how our society plays a roll and re-create the narrative for the future. The Institute of Medicine (US) Committee on Preventing Nicotine Addiction in Children and Youths states that standards set by society define the boundaries of behavior. (Institute of Medicine (US) Committee on Preventing Nicotine Addiction in Children and Youths, 1994). If a person at a young age is seeing alcohol consumption and/or smoking as something that is accepted by friends and family, or movies are portraying actors as heroes that smoke it's certainly noticed and accepted. Just encouraging smoking cessation or helping to stop others from drinking is only part of the solution. There is an underlying pervasiveness to these addictions that needs to be uprooted. It is not just the addiction itself that is a problem because a lot of the time one will replace another. The cultural acceptance and advocacy for such behavior needs to be stopped. The public funding of these issues is largely where the problem is based. Lobbying and other special interests that want to control and manipulate individual behaviors are at the center of this issue. If you are looking at alcohol consumption for example, it is glorified in the media and set forth in mass-marketing droves. Children and adults alike view it as something used to celebrate and have fun. Smoking and alcohol consumption is something that goes hand in hand when some people are socializing. Shiffmans study reveals that 19% of cigarettes were smoked when drinking alcohol and 29% when participants were socializing. (Schiffman, 2009). In order to lessen the effects of alcohol consumption and smoking in our society, we must first stop allowing big tobacco companies and alcohol producers to target our children and people from poorer socioeconomic backgrounds. Even though there has been campaigns to stop children and others from smoking or drinking, it has not been enough. We must all take part in these responsibilities so that we can create a healthier more productive society for each other.

When it comes to smoking and excessive drinking, the effects can be seen all throughout society, so shouldn't society play a part in helping end these horrible addictions. I will agree in saying that the end result of quitting is the individual and only the individuals responsibility. Society cannot force a person to quit, but it can help lead the individual to that decision.

In 1946, scientists first discovered that DNA can be transferred between organisms. It is now known that there are several mechanisms for DNA transfer and that these occur in nature on a large scale, for example, it is a major mechanism for antibiotic resistance in pathogenic bacteria. The first genetically modified plant was produced in 1983, using an antibiotic-resistant tobacco plant (Bawa, & Anilakumar, 2013). Genetically modified food organisms are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering. This creates combinations of plant, animal, bacteria, and virus genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods (“GMO Facts,” 2016). Many argue that GMOs can cause environmental damage and health problems for consumers. This is because genetically modified foods have been linked to toxic and allergic reactions, sickness, sterile and dead livestock, and damage to virtually every organ studied in lab animals.
While researching this topic, I found a lot of scientific evidence available to illustrate the effects of the health hazards caused by genetically modified food organisms. “Many scientific data indicate that animals fed by GM crops have been harmed or even died. One example reported had rats exposed to transgenic potatoes or soya had abnormal young sperm; cows, goats, buffalo, pigs and other livestock grazing on Bt-maize, GM cottonseed and certain biotech corn showed complications including early deliveries, abortions, infertility and also many died” (Maghari, & Ardekani, 2011). Another issue is that new proteins can be synthesized that can produce unpredictable allergenic effects. For example, bean plants that were genetically modified to increase cysteine and methionine content were discarded after the discovery that the expressed protein of the transgene was highly allergenic (Bawa, & Anilakumar, 2013).

The entire purpose of a pesticide is to repel or kill species that are harmful to certain desirable plants, most of which serve as edible produce to humans. However any substance that is harmful to organic life has the potential to have negative repercussions on creatures that the pesticide is not intended to bring harm to. Like the humans who would eat the produce being protected by the pesticide. In the short term we can have various forms of irritation or minor illness, while in the long term we can have cases of Parkinson's disease and cancer.

One way the environment might negatively affect my health is through second-hand smoke from the air. Secondhand smoke comes from “burning tobacco products such as cigarettes, cigars, or pipes” (CDC, 2018). Secondhand smoke increases the risk for heart disease, lung cancer, and stroke (CDC, 2018). One step I can take to protect my health is to reduce the chance of exposure. Avoiding areas where people are allowed to smoke cigarettes will significantly limit my exposure to tobacco smoke.
Another way the environment can negatively affect my health is through hazards at my workplace. I work in a hospital which deals with infections on a daily basis. In order to reduce my risk for acquiring an infection at a hospital, I must be diligent with sanitation and sterilization. Hand washing is the best way to reduce transmission of infection. Maintaining precautions with patients and sterilizing tools between use is also very important.
Eating undercooked food is another way my health can be negatively affected. Many foods, especially meats, need to be heated to a certain temperature, usually 165 degrees Fahrenheit, before they are deemed safe to eat. Failure to do so may result in acquiring some microorganism that has been cultured on the food; this microorganism could then enter the body and cause damage to the immune system and other organs (CDC, 2019).

There have always been some obvious hazards in our daily lives that we take certain measures to avoid, but after reading this week’s resources, I was enlightened on some different hazardous exposures that I was not initially aware of. Working in the medical field, we pride ourselves on being sterile and clean to prevent the spreading of germs and diseases. This also comes along with daily exposure to highly chemical induced cleaning supplies. In my medical clinic we specifically use Sani-Cloth germicidal disposable wipes to wipe down all of our equipment daily. This product specifically contains dimethyl ethylbenzyl ammonium chlorides and dimethyl benzyl ammonium chlorides, both which have the precaution of being hazardous to humans and animals. The biggest protective measure I use with this product is donning personal protective equipment, or basically wearing gloves before handling the wipes to limit direct contact exposure and dermal absorption.
Water quality is another important factor in our daily health because we all need water to survive. I feel that it is always difficult to determine the quality of water you are getting from different sources and what they claim to be clean or purified. Public water fountains are usually connected to public water systems that have the potential to contain additional fluoride pollution or run-off from chemicals and pesticides used near water sources. If a person at a young age is seeing alcohol consumption and/or smoking as something that is accepted by friends and family, or movies are portraying actors as heroes that smoke it's certainly noticed and accepted. Just encouraging smoking cessation or helping to stop others from drinking is only part of the solution. There is an underlying pervasiveness to these addictions that needs to be uprooted. It is not just the addiction itself that is a problem because a lot of the time one will replace another. The cultural acceptance and advocacy for such behavior needs to be stopped. The public funding of these issues is largely where the problem is based. Lobbying and other special interests that want to control and manipulate individual behaviors are at the center of this issue. If you are looking at alcohol consumption for example, it is glorified in the media and set forth in mass-marketing droves. Children and adults alike view it as something used to celebrate and have fun. Smoking and alcohol consumption is something that goes hand in hand when some people are socializing. Shiffmans study reveals that 19% of cigarettes were smoked when drinking alcohol and 29% when participants were socializing. (Schiffman, 2009). In order to lessen the effects of alcohol consumption and smoking in our society, we must first stop allowing big tobacco companies and alcohol producers to target our children and people from poorer socioeconomic backgrounds. Even though there has been campaigns to stop children and others from smoking or drinking, it has not been enough. We must all take part in these responsibilities so that we can create a healthier more productive society for each other.

In 1946, scientists first discovered that DNA can be transferred between organisms. It is now known that there are several mechanisms for DNA transfer and that these occur in nature on a large scale, for example, it is a major mechanism for antibiotic resistance in pathogenic bacteria. The first genetically modified plant was produced in 1983, using an antibiotic-resistant tobacco plant (Bawa, & Anilakumar, 2013). Genetically modified food organisms are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering. This creates combinations of plant, animal, bacteria, and virus genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods (“GMO Facts,” 2016). Many argue that GMOs can cause environmental damage and health problems for consumers. This is because genetically modified foods have been linked to toxic and allergic reactions, sickness, sterile and dead livestock, and damage to virtually every organ studied in lab animals.
While researching this topic, I found a lot of scientific evidence available to illustrate the effects of the health hazards caused by genetically modified food organisms. “Many scientific data indicate that animals fed by GM crops have been harmed or even died. One example reported had rats exposed to transgenic potatoes or soya had abnormal young sperm; cows, goats, buffalo, pigs and other livestock grazing on Bt-maize, GM cottonseed and certain biotech corn showed complications including early deliveries, abortions, infertility and also many died” (Maghari, & Ardekani, 2011). Another issue is that new proteins can be synthesized that can produce unpredictable allergenic effects. For example, bean plants that were genetically modified to increase cysteine and methionine content were discarded after the discovery that the expressed protein of the transgene was highly allergenic (Bawa, & Anilakumar, 2013).

The entire purpose of a pesticide is to repel or kill species that are harmful to certain desirable plants, most of which serve as edible produce to humans. One way the environment might negatively affect my health is through second-hand smoke from the air. Secondhand smoke comes from “burning tobacco products such as cigarettes, cigars, or pipes” (CDC, 2018). Secondhand smoke increases the risk for heart disease, lung cancer, and stroke (CDC, 2018). One step I can take to protect my health is to reduce the chance of exposure. Avoiding areas where people are allowed to smoke cigarettes will significantly limit my exposure to tobacco smoke.
Another way the environment can negatively affect my health is through hazards at my workplace. I work in a hospital which deals with infections on a daily basis. In order to reduce my risk for acquiring an infection at a hospital, I must be diligent with sanitation and sterilization. Hand washing is the best way to reduce transmission of infection. Maintaining precautions with patients and sterilizing tools between use is also very important.
Eating undercooked food is another way my health can be negatively affected. Many foods, especially meats, need to be heated to a certain temperature, usually 165 degrees Fahrenheit, before they are deemed safe to eat. Failure to do so may result in acquiring some microorganism that has been cultured on the food; this microorganism could then enter the body and cause damage to the immune system and other organs (CDC, 2019).

There have always been some obvious hazards in our daily lives that we take certain measures to avoid, but after reading this week’s resources, I was enlightened on some different hazardous exposures that I was not initially aware of. Working in the medical field, we pride ourselves on being sterile and clean to prevent the spreading of germs and diseases. This also comes along with daily exposure to highly chemical induced cleaning supplies. In my medical clinic we specifically use Sani-Cloth germicidal disposable wipes to wipe down all of our equipment daily. This product specifically contains dimethyl ethylbenzyl ammonium chlorides and dimethyl benzyl ammonium chlorides, both which have the precaution of being hazardous to humans and animals. The biggest protective measure I use with this product is donning personal protective equipment, or basically wearing gloves before handling the wipes to limit direct contact exposure and dermal absorption.
Water quality is another important factor in our daily health because we all need water to survive. I feel that it is always difficult to determine the quality of water you are getting from different sources and what they claim to be clean or purified. Public water fountains are usually connected to public water systems that have the potential to contain additional fluoride pollution or run-off from chemicals and pesticides used near water sources. Understanding why any company or organization can benefit from integrating the various “pieces” of the company into a cohesive structure or system is not difficult. The integration will lead to increased productivity, cost redundancy and a better, more complete, work environment. The integration process can be a daunting task, even in a small business environment. Obviously, we need a first step in the process of integration. This is not limited to what product or system to purchase, custom or off the shelf, but which components should be integrated. As the business owner, what will your expectations be, this needs to be defined and shared, with staff and whoever is going to be involved in the integration process. Once we know where we want to go, we can plan how to get there. Each business has unique issues, so trying to integrate a business structure by walking through the software choices at Best Buy, is probably not a good idea. It is important to have professional help onboard to implement this process. A systems integration professional will help to determine how or even if, components of the company will fit together and how and what data will be available to each of those component departments (Head Channel, 2019). Sales may not need to know specifics of productions but does need to know about design and availability. Production may not need to know the specifics of sales prospects but does need data on product sales.
The process for integration will require a team from the company and the company chosen to implement the integration. These teams will build the list(s) of requirements and necessary outcomes while determining which data systems need to be integrated. Each company has any number of departments producing data, and since the company is operational, there is a process already in place that requires analysis of each step to determine which steps will be required by the system supporting another department. These transactions must be organized and understood prior to building any integration system. Transactional requirements will be the key to create a system that will meet company expectations, from a business and an environmental standpoint (Fischer, 2017). One event that is currently taking place right now is the protesting of the construction of the ten meter telescope (TMT) at Mauna Kea in Hawaii. The State is in a precarious battle with the University of Hawaii, its international partners, against the Native Hawaiian community. TMT construction has been halted by Native Hawaiians due to the belief that it is a sacred place in which the people can come in contact with the gods. Though this is being portrayed by the media as an environmental injustice to the Hawaiians, there are many factors to consider. The TMT Internal Organization project began in 2003 as a joint collaboration between United States, Japan, Canada and now China and India (TMT, 2019). Most importantly, in 2010 an Environmental Impact Statement and Cultural Impact Statement was finalized after 14 meetings (Native Hawaiian leaders were included as well) and signed by the Governor — no objections or protest were made at the time of signing (TMT, 2019). At the time, Native Hawaiian support for the TMT in 2018 was polled at 72% and some were even excited about the opportunity it may create for economic growth and tourism (Web Staff, 2019). But this all changed when construction commenced in June 2019, confirmed by a support decline of 27% . Pastor (2018) states that environmental injustice disproportionately affects low-income communities and people of color. Compared to other non-Hawaiians residents, Native Hawaiians “have lower education, higher unemployment, and lower incomes” (HUD, 2013). Since the incorporation of Hawaii into the United States, similarly to Native Americans, Hawaiians have had mixed feelings and mistrust when it comes to issues of land use. How should the TMT project proceed? Twenty percent of its monthly lease will go towards the Department of Hawaiian Affairs (TMT, 2019), and many local tourist companies and

At this time, the aspect in the doctoral process that holds the most confidence is the coursework. I have generally been rather successful in completing tasks, and earning decent grades. The history of coursework, grades, and determination to complete things that have been started provides the confidence to support the previous statement.
The aspect of the doctoral process that is most concerning is the Comprehensive Exam. While I work “well under pressure”, I am concerned about the amount of work required for the rather short time frame provided to compete the Comprehensive Exam (28 days, 3 questions, each answer being 12-17 pages in length). These requirements, at this point in the doctoral journey, are intimidating.
At this point in my life, career, and education, I have learned the value of asking for, and accepting help. I believe that self-sufficiency is extremely important, but not to the extent that my health and sanity should be at risk. While I feel more confident in many aspects of my life when I am doing well in other aspects, I am not beyond taking care of myself. As I tell my clients often, you must take care of yourself, to be able to take care of others. If I do not perform self-care, how can I care for my clients? Ruscio (2006), in
Critical Thinking in Psychology,
referenced the “well-established correlation between self-esteem and academic achievement” (p. 99). While there is controversy in this correlation, I personally feel that academic achievement increases self-esteem, rather than the other way around. However, they both affect each other differently, for different individuals. As most things in life, it is dependent upon the individual, rather than 100% one way or the other.
The sources of help in the process of doctoral learning that appears to be most helpful would be the dissertation mentor and academic advisor. These individuals would be helpful in providing feedback, support, answering questions, and helping to take the mystery out of the process. The presentation “Welcome to Dissertation” provided insight on the process, and solidified the thought that they will be useful in the dissertation process.

1.Should the government provide services, and if so, which level of government should provide what service? Should different levels of government rely on others to provide funding for those services?
Yes, I believe the government should provide services, but the bigger question is, should it be more of the federal or state’s responsibility? To me, that is the main issue here. In reading Ch.4, it gives a detailed history of the federal government “loosening the reins” of some powers and giving the responsibility to the states; especially after World War II. Before this, state governments relied heavily on the federal government and taxes on property as well. That all changed after the war was over and kept changing from there on forward with each different President who took office. Therefore, I believe the states should provide services such as water sanitation, but the federal government should provide the funding for the mandates and quality control and staff to monitor.
2. Who should pay for services rendered? Should all citizens pay equally, regardless of ability to pay? Are there services that should be considered a "right of civilization", available to all regardless of income level? What about costs for issues that are of more concern to citizens in some geographic areas than others - Trump's "wall", for example, or cleanup of the Gulf of Mexico from the BP Deepwater spill?
Regarding services rendered, that discussion can be a slippery slope and I can see the arguments on opposing sides of this topic. In thinking about this I would lean more toward it should be divided equally amongst its citizens. There are services I would consider to be “rights of civilization” and should be available to everyone, regardless of income status in their communities. For example, social services, social benefits, emergency social assistance is managed and organized per their local government. These services should be available to all in the community, even if they have no income. Other examples of “right of civilization” would be clean water supply, police, and fire department services, etc. Issues that are more geographic in nature should be a combination of a federal and state venture in my opinion.
3. Should all services be privatized? The military? Essential utilities such as water or sewer? How should we decide what should or should not be.
I do think in some instances it is good for services to be privatized and history has shown that it has helped the overall bottom lines of some state’s economies. Privatization of public services is nothing new, it has been happening at all levels of government. The main arguments to privatize services are cost reduction, the transfer of risk and liability, create a sour4ce of revenue, and achieving a higher level of quality service. The government should provide services. In regards to which level, the state level should be providing services to its inhabitants, but that is not to let the federal government off the hook. The local governments are essentially to small to provide, and they are usually reliable on the state government for services and resources. The federal government shouldn't possess all the services. "Without adequate and independent financial resources, or some guarantee of adequate resources at each level of government, the federal structure will not operate as a truly federal structure. (76) However, if the state is struggling with funds, the federal government can, and should, provide for the states.
I believe both the states and citizens should pay for services rendered, depending on the service. I say depending on the service, because most "are the responsibility of state and local governments." (79) At the very least, the states should make it to where everyone has the ability to pay, and that is by paying as well. Services that are more of a concern in certain areas, such as Trump's Wall, should tax those in that area. This can get unfair, however. A fraction of individuals in the specific area might not be a fan or supporter of the wall. If possible, the pro-wall individuals can pay for those services, but it is probably best left to the states with assistance of the federal level. There are services that should be held as a "right of civilization." The constitution is all about emphasizing equality. That includes services, regardless of a level's financial status. Police, firefighters, law, and health services should be available to all.
All services should not be privatized, that includes the military. Privatization is often the go to because more money is going in the pocket of the government. "Governments at all levels are just desperate to balance their budgets, and they're grasping at privatization as a panacea." (Kim, 2010) This is incredibly risky. Governments are playing risk vs. reward. "You're taking the risk of the unknown and dumping that on your supplier." (Kim, 2010) Governments are inviting corruption when privatizing. "Problems from poorly conceived contracts can create costs increases that far surpass the costs of in-house services, and if there's shoddy contract oversight, a government is vulnerable to corruption and profiteering." (Kim, 2010) The ultimate risk is that privatization can put governments into deeper debt.
I believe the federal government should have the power to require states and localities to provide services for individuals. To repeat the idea in my first paragraph, I say this to maintain a balanced level of authority and power. Without that, we truly don't act as a federalist system. Ultimately, the federal level maintains the upmost authority, but should not be to the point where we are running a federal level dominant system.

The example of text gave talks about a child with a sight impairment. This child is unable to see, and has common tics as those who are blind, meaning restlessness when it is quite and facial movements that he cannot control. However, during instruction time his teacher noticed that his body relaxed and began to respond during music time. This information was relayed to his parents, and years later the child has become a musical portage. Now this may not be the case for all children, but for some it is. When a disability is present there is a greater chance for another area of the child’s development to be heighten or strengthen.
In a personal example, a student within my class was diagnosed with autism. While this student is still in the early development stage, we are more attentive to the activities that this student choose to participate in. Circle time is a difficult time for the student, as is any other time when she needs to sit still. However, when it comes to painting or creating with her hands, she is the most willing to participate. Based on these observations, my assistants and I foster a more art based learning environment for this student. I had the pleasure of teaching an exceptional child because he is gifted and talented. He has a vast knowledge of many things and has a fascination with trains. His mother is worried because of her child’s understanding that his teachers will label him. In reading the text, I agree with the statement that “ gifted and talented students may be at risk if they do not receive adequate services to meet their needs” (Allen & Cowdery, 2015). As an educator, I had to recognize his talents and accommodate him as much as possible. He exhibits many of the characteristics listed, including asking intelligent questions, detailed memory, complicated classification and distinction skills, awareness of what is different and new in the environment, and awareness of the feelings of others (p. 90). I can recall an incident where he realizes that I was experiencing pain. He relayed to his classmate that they should behave because I was not feeling my best.

September 11, 2001 is a day that no one in America will forget. I can still remember where I was, at the time, what I was doing, and how I reacted to it. September 11, 2001 will always be remembered as 9/11. This is the day that terrorist attacked America, on American soil. Terrorist hijacked 4 airplanes attacking the twin towers in New York, the pentagon, one was crashed in Pennsylvania. There were several people killed and injured, but America as a hole was wounded (Costly, 2019 para1).
Not long after 9/11, U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, went to congress with several options to combat terrorism. Many of them was omitted by congress because they infringed on citizens rights, but they did approve the USA Patriot Act. The USA Patriot Act stands for United and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools, that will Intersect and Obstruct Terrorism (Costly, 2019).
The day after the Patriot Act was implemented, the House of Representatives passed a bill called 357-66. 357-66 is a bill that is 357 pages long and changed over 15 laws. In 2005, President George W. Bush approved surveillance of cell phone and monitor all emails. President Bush decision did not go over well with many people in America, they felt their civil liberties was being violated (Doherty, 2014).
The U.S. Constitution's Fourth Amendment and Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 made it where the government had to have a warrant to search someone’s property, so when President Bush made that decision, it made many U.S. citizens feel their liberties were violated. Then there was NSL’s (National Security Letters). The NSL’s allowed the government to access people “suspected” of terrorisms phone records, and the electronic communication (Doherty).

In Florida, where I live there are different requirements to become a psychologist. The state of Florida requires all licensed psychologists to have a doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited or approved school.It is of the utmost importance to create a plan for the educational path and licensing procedures that will be required of you in order to become a psychologist in the state of Florida. In order to work as a licensed psychologist in the state of Florida all candidates are required to have a doctoral degree, either a Ph.D. or a PsyD in psychology or a closely related field, this degree must be from an approved institution. After acquiring your doctorate degree in psychology or a closely related subject such as educational psychology, candidates are then required to complete 4,000 hours of supervised professional experience over two years. This experience must be conducted under the supervision of a licensed psychologist that the Florida Board of Psychology has approved. Once you have completed your doctoral degree and 4,000 hours of supervised experience you can then submit your application for licensure. The state of Florida requires all psychology licenses to be renewed every two years; to be eligible for renewal the license holder must complete a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education. The Florida Board of Psychology also enforces one further stipulation to renewing you license, which is that on every third renewal a psychologist must.

Understanding why any company or organization can benefit from integrating the various “pieces” of the company into a cohesive structure or system is not difficult. The integration will lead to increased productivity, cost redundancy and a better, more complete, work environment. The integration process can be a daunting task, even in a small business environment. Obviously, we need a first step in the process of integration. This is not limited to what product or system to purchase, custom or off the shelf, but which components should be integrated. As the business owner, what will your expectations be, this needs to be defined and shared, with staff and whoever is going to be involved in the integration process. Once we know where we want to go, we can plan how to get there. Each business has unique issues, so trying to integrate a business structure by walking through the software choices at Best Buy, is probably not a good idea. It is important to have professional help onboard to implement this process. A systems integration professional will help to determine how or even if, components of the company will fit together and how and what data will be available to each of those component departments (Head Channel, 2019). Sales may not need to know specifics of productions but does need to know about design and availability. Production may not need to know the specifics of sales prospects but does need data on product sales.
The process for integration will require a team from the company and the company chosen to implement the integration. These teams will build the list(s) of requirements and necessary outcomes while determining which data systems need to be integrated. Each company has any number of departments producing data, and since the company is operational, there is a process already in place that requires analysis of each step to determine which steps will be required by the system supporting another department. These transactions must be organized and understood prior to building any integration system. Transactional requirements will be the key to create a system that will meet company expectations, from a business and an environmental standpoint (Fischer, 2017). One event that is currently taking place right now is the protesting of the construction of the ten meter telescope (TMT) at Mauna Kea in Hawaii. The State is in a precarious battle with the University of Hawaii, its international partners, against the Native Hawaiian community. TMT construction has been halted by Native Hawaiians due to the belief that it is a sacred place in which the people can come in contact with the gods. Though this is being portrayed by the media as an environmental injustice to the Hawaiians, there are many factors to consider. The TMT Internal Organization project began in 2003 as a joint collaboration between United States, Japan, Canada and now China and India (TMT, 2019). Most importantly, in 2010 an Environmental Impact Statement and Cultural Impact Statement was finalized after 14 meetings (Native Hawaiian leaders were included as well) and signed by the Governor — no objections or protest were made at the time of signing (TMT, 2019). At the time, Native Hawaiian support for the TMT in 2018 was polled at 72% and some were even excited about the opportunity it may create for economic growth and tourism (Web Staff, 2019). But this all changed when construction commenced in June 2019, confirmed by a support decline of 27% . Pastor (2018) states that environmental injustice disproportionately affects low-income communities and people of color. Compared to other non-Hawaiians residents, Native Hawaiians “have lower education, higher unemployment, and lower incomes” (HUD, 2013). Since the incorporation of Hawaii into the United States, similarly to Native Americans, Hawaiians have had mixed feelings and mistrust when it comes to issues of land use. How should the TMT project proceed? Twenty percent of its monthly lease will go towards the Department of Hawaiian Affairs (TMT, 2019), and many local tourist companies and

At this time, the aspect in the doctoral process that holds the most confidence is the coursework. I have generally been rather successful in completing tasks, and earning decent grades. The history of coursework, grades, and determination to complete things that have been started provides the confidence to support the previous statement.
The aspect of the doctoral process that is most concerning is the Comprehensive Exam. While I work “well under pressure”, I am concerned about the amount of work required for the rather short time frame provided to compete the Comprehensive Exam (28 days, 3 questions, each answer being 12-17 pages in length). These requirements, at this point in the doctoral journey, are intimidating.
At this point in my life, career, and education, I have learned the value of asking for, and accepting help. I believe that self-sufficiency is extremely important, but not to the extent that my health and sanity should be at risk. While I feel more confident in many aspects of my life when I am doing well in other aspects, I am not beyond taking care of myself. As I tell my clients often, you must take care of yourself, to be able to take care of others. If I do not perform self-care, how can I care for my clients? Ruscio (2006), in
Critical Thinking in Psychology,
referenced the “well-established correlation between self-esteem and academic achievement” (p. 99). While there is controversy in this correlation, I personally feel that academic achievement increases self-esteem, rather than the other way around. However, they both affect each other differently, for different individuals. As most things in life, it is dependent upon the individual, rather than 100% one way or the other.
The sources of help in the process of doctoral learning that appears to be most helpful would be the dissertation mentor and academic advisor. These individuals would be helpful in providing feedback, support, answering questions, and helping to take the mystery out of the process. The presentation “Welcome to Dissertation” provided insight on the process, and solidified the thought that they will be useful in the dissertation process.

1.Should the government provide services, and if so, which level of government should provide what service? Should different levels of government rely on others to provide funding for those services?
Yes, I believe the government should provide services, but the bigger question is, should it be more of the federal or state’s responsibility? To me, that is the main issue here. In reading Ch.4, it gives a detailed history of the federal government “loosening the reins” of some powers and giving the responsibility to the states; especially after World War II. Before this, state governments relied heavily on the federal government and taxes on property as well. That all changed after the war was over and kept changing from there on forward with each different President who took office. Therefore, I believe the states should provide services such as water sanitation, but the federal government should provide the funding for the mandates and quality control and staff to monitor.
2. Who should pay for services rendered? Should all citizens pay equally, regardless of ability to pay? Are there services that should be considered a "right of civilization", available to all regardless of income level? What about costs for issues that are of more concern to citizens in some geographic areas than others - Trump's "wall", for example, or cleanup of the Gulf of Mexico from the BP Deepwater spill?
Regarding services rendered, that discussion can be a slippery slope and I can see the arguments on opposing sides of this topic. In thinking about this I would lean more toward it should be divided equally amongst its citizens. There are services I would consider to be “rights of civilization” and should be available to everyone, regardless of income status in their communities. For example, social services, social benefits, emergency social assistance is managed and organized per their local government. These services should be available to all in the community, even if they have no income. Other examples of “right of civilization” would be clean water supply, police, and fire department services, etc. Issues that are more geographic in nature should be a combination of a federal and state venture in my opinion.

I do think in some instances it is good for services to be privatized and history has shown that it has helped the overall bottom lines of some state’s economies. Privatization of public services is nothing new, it has been happening at all levels of government. The main arguments to privatize services are cost reduction, the transfer of risk and liability, create a sour4ce of revenue, and achieving a higher level of quality service. The government should provide services. In regards to which level, the state level should be providing services to its inhabitants, but that is not to let the federal government off the hook. The local governments are essentially to small to provide, and they are usually reliable on the state government for services and resources. The federal government shouldn't possess all the services. "Without adequate and independent financial resources, or some guarantee of adequate resources at each level of government, the federal structure will not operate as a truly federal structure. (76) However, if the state is struggling with funds, the federal government can, and should, provide for the states.
I believe both the states and citizens should pay for services rendered, depending on the service. I say depending on the service, because most "are the responsibility of state and local governments." (79) At the very least, the states should make it to where everyone has the ability to pay, and that is by paying as well. Services that are more of a concern in certain areas, such as Trump's Wall, should tax those in that area. This can get unfair, however. A fraction of individuals in the specific area might not be a fan or supporter of the wall. If possible, the pro-wall individuals can pay for those services, but it is probably best left to the states with assistance of the federal level. There are services that should be held as a "right of civilization." The constitution is all about emphasizing equality. That includes services, regardless of a level's financial status. Police, firefighters, law, and health services should be available to all.
All services should not be privatized, that includes the military. Privatization is often the go to because more money is going in the pocket of the government. "Governments at all levels are just desperate to balance their budgets, and they're grasping at privatization as a panacea." (Kim, 2010) This is incredibly risky. Governments are playing risk vs. reward. "You're taking the risk of the unknown and dumping that on your supplier." (Kim, 2010) Governments are inviting corruption when privatizing. "Problems from poorly conceived contracts can create costs increases that far surpass the costs of in-house services, and if there's shoddy contract oversight, a government is vulnerable to corruption and profiteering." (Kim, 2010) The ultimate risk is that privatization can put governments into deeper debt.
I believe the federal government should have the power to require states and localities to provide services for individuals. To repeat the idea in my first paragraph, I say this to maintain a balanced level of authority and power. Without that, we truly don't act as a federalist system. Ultimately, the federal level maintains the upmost authority, but should not be to the point where we are running a federal level dominant system.

The example of text gave talks about a child with a sight impairment. This child is unable to see, and has common tics as those who are blind, meaning restlessness when it is quite and facial movements that he cannot control. However, during instruction time his teacher noticed that his body relaxed and began to respond during music time. This information was relayed to his parents, and years later the child has become a musical portage. Now this may not be the case for all children, but for some it is. When a disability is present there is a greater chance for another area of the child’s development to be heighten or strengthen.
In a personal example, a student within my class was diagnosed with autism. While this student is still in the early development stage, we are more attentive to the activities that this student choose to participate in. Circle time is a difficult time for the student, as is any other time when she needs to sit still. However, when it comes to painting or creating with her hands, she is the most willing to participate. Based on these observations, my assistants and I foster a more art based learning environment for this student. I had the pleasure of teaching an exceptional child because he is gifted and talented. He has a vast knowledge of many things and has a fascination with trains. His mother is worried because of her child’s understanding that his teachers will label him. In reading the text, I agree with the statement that “ gifted and talented students may be at risk if they do not receive adequate services to meet their needs” (Allen & Cowdery, 2015). As an educator, I had to recognize his talents and accommodate him as much as possible. He exhibits many of the characteristics listed, including asking intelligent questions, detailed memory, complicated classification and distinction skills, awareness of what is different and new in the environment, and awareness of the feelings of others (p. 90). I can recall an incident where he realizes that I was experiencing pain. He relayed to his classmate that they should behave because I was not feeling my best.

September 11, 2001 is a day that no one in America will forget. I can still remember where I was, at the time, what I was doing, and how I reacted to it. September 11, 2001 will always be remembered as 9/11. This is the day that terrorist attacked America, on American soil. Terrorist hijacked 4 airplanes attacking the twin towers in New York, the pentagon, one was crashed in Pennsylvania. There were several people killed and injured, but America as a hole was wounded (Costly, 2019 para1).
Not long after 9/11, U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, went to congress with several options to combat terrorism. Many of them was omitted by congress because they infringed on citizens rights, but they did approve the USA Patriot Act. The USA Patriot Act stands for United and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools, that will Intersect and Obstruct Terrorism (Costly, 2019).
The day after the Patriot Act was implemented, the House of Representatives passed a bill called 357-66. 357-66 is a bill that is 357 pages long and changed over 15 laws. In 2005, President George W. Bush approved surveillance of cell phone and monitor all emails. President Bush decision did not go over well with many people in America, they felt their civil liberties was being violated (Doherty, 2014).
The U.S. Constitution's Fourth Amendment and Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 made it where the government had to have a warrant to search someone’s property, so when President Bush made that decision, it made many U.S. citizens feel their liberties were violated. Then there was NSL’s (National Security Letters). The NSL’s allowed the government to access people “suspected” of terrorisms phone records, and the electronic communication (Doherty).

My specialization is General psychology. I have certifications in the applied behavioral analysis, as well as forensic. In order to work as a licensed psychologist in the state of Florida all candidates are required to have a doctoral degree, either a Ph.D. or a PsyD in psychology or a closely related field, this degree must be from an approved institution. After acquiring your doctorate degree in psychology or a closely related subject such as educational psychology, candidates are then required to complete 4,000 hours of supervised professional experience over two years. This experience must be conducted under the supervision of a licensed psychologist that the Florida Board of Psychology has approved. Once you have completed your doctoral degree and 4,000 hours of supervised experience you can then submit your application for licensure. The state of Florida requires all psychology licenses to be renewed every two years; to be eligible for renewal the license holder must complete a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education. Video streaming services also are forever impacting surges in American culture from the programs they show. When a show on a video streaming service takes off and gains mass popularity (also due to its accessibility, binge-watching ability, and social media), the program itself can create a new craze in America. When assessing children, parents’ interviews and school functioning reports are necessary.
The assessment tool I will discuss in this post is the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED). Per the University of Pittsburg (2019), SCARED is a child and parent self-report instrument used to screen for childhood anxiety disorders including general anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social phobia. In addition, it assesses symptoms related to school phobia. The SCARED consists of 41 items and 5 factors that parallel the DSM-IV classification of anxiety disorders. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

- 1. respond to this answer of a discussion question Rama and Sita's marriage is a beautiful one and although it was set in the 5th century B.C.E, I would still strive to have a marriage like this one. The way they talk about each other and how they talk to one another is very beautiful and respectful. They truly want the best for one another. Whenever Rama was exiled for fourteen years, he did not want Sita to go with him because he would rather her stay in a comfortable and safe place. She refused and just wanted to be with him. She kept saying that she could not find refuge and would not be comfortable if she was not with him. This is very respectful and shows true love from both of them. Rama is selfless and wanted to put his wife's needs first, but she wanted to be faithful and loyal to him wherever she was, which required her putting her personal desires aside. Rama and Sita's marriage did not begin like a marriage would today. They had an arranged marriage, but ended up falling in love. In our society, arranged marriages do not happen. However, their relationship can be compared to the idea of marriage today. They value each other and are very selfless in their marriage. This is an important quality for any relationship and is the foundation for a good marriage. They show true love which is very important to have a lasting relationship. Although their marriage did not start the way most marriages would start today, Rama and Sita do uphold most of the same values as marriages do today.
