This document discusses a project to introduce pyrolysis cook stoves in Haiti. The project aims to address deforestation by providing an alternative cooking fuel source. Pyrolysis stoves use a closed, natural process to cook with biomass in a way that produces biochar soil amendment. The stoves are designed to stop deforestation, promote local business, protect health, and improve nutrition. They use waste biomass made into fuel briquettes. The stoves have been accepted by beneficiaries due to their practical design, local production, and demonstrations. Challenges include blackened cookware and limited planning skills, but improvements could include better training.
