COMPONENTS OF A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
- Tank for oil or some other fluid
- One or more pistons in a cylinder
- Motor-powered pump
In a streamlined design, these components are usually built into the car parking system,
on either or both sides of the platform as well as the vertical arms
that hold it in place.
- The initial movement of the pump is activated with electricity.
- The pump pushes the fluid out of the storage container into the cylinder that
houses the piston/s.
- As pressure builds up in the fluid, it pushes the piston upward.
- This generates enough force to lift heavy loads and to hold them there until the
fluid is withdrawn by the pump.
- As the cylinders and pistons are attached to the car lift's platform, they activate
the controlled raising and lowering of the platform.
