Nursing is a highly regulated profession with over 100 boards of nursing and national nursing associations throughout the US and territories. These organizations help regulate, inform, and promote the nursing profession. Boards of nursing and national nursing associations both significantly impact the nurse practitioner profession and scope of practice. Understanding the differences between these organizations lends credibility to a nurse's expertise. A staff development meeting will compare boards of nursing to professional nursing associations and analyze the presenter's state board of nursing. The presentation will address regulations that influence healthcare delivery, costs, and access.
