Character Reference for Joe Beresford: Written in August 2013
I have worked with Joe for around a year and have found him to have many qualities that
would be sought after by employers.
Joe is always smart and his punctuality and attendance are both excellent. He is honest and
will ask for something to do if his own work is completed. He shows great initiative in terms
of support for the wider team, and real interest in the work that we do.
The team have been impressed with Joe’s ability to pick up what is wanted quickly and
intelligently. If you ask for something to be done Joe will do it to the best of his ability.
His skills with IT have been welcomed and he has contributed helpfully in this area. He has
initiated and progressed some great work for a proposed Apps Festival in York, and this has
developed through Joe to the stage where it has been adopted for follow-up with a great many
individuals throughout the Council. He has been recognised for this work.
Joe has almost completed his apprenticeship with the City of York Council and has assisted
with various meetings, technology, research and administrative support efficiently and
pleasantly. He has carried out work above the level normally expected of an apprentice and
has contributed to team conversations willingly and usefully.
With the reductions in staff at the Council we have been unable to offer Joe a permanent post.
Knowing this, Joe’s has continued to work with no less enthusiasm or diligence.
If I was an employer I would be happy to employ Joe in a supporting capacity and think that
Joe can achieve further if this is what he wishes.
