I am pleased to provide this reference about Mr Juba Hamchache, who was my MSc project
student during the academic year 2016/2017. During this time Juba was enroled in the MSc
in Energy and Power Systems Management, a one year postgraduate programme at the
University of Portsmouth, School of Engineering. He completed his dissertation in September
2016. Juba has a first class BEng (honours) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from
the University of Derby, UK, which he obtained in 2015.
Juba’s MSc dissertation topic was the modellling and control of doubly fed induction
generators, for which he used Simulink and SimPowerSytems. His dissertation report showed
that he possesses an excellent understanding of the key modelling and control issues
associated with doubly fed induction generators. His project work demonstrated that he has
the qualities of organisation, good planning, resourcefulness and perseverance. He has an
analytic mind that enables him to understand complex concepts associated with energy and
power systems.
Juba is focussed, responsible, hard working and relates very well with his peers and
supervisors. He works very well as an individual, yet his kind and polite personality also
enables him to function effectively as part of a team.
