Rahul is the founder and president of Empower Youth Vision and worked with C4ST to plan an event educating youth about safe wireless device use. The event was well-attended and organized thanks to Rahul's leadership skills and hard work. Frank believes Rahul is an ideal candidate for the scholarship because of the impact he is making in his community by helping develop youth into future leaders.

JUP have been striving not only in contributing to solving the problems in our society but seek the main causes thereof and to fight for relevant local and national changes in policies.
Now inviting all leaders (a plus for prayer warriors) from all districts to join / partner in this Youth Empowerment Summit for Sustainable Employment (YESSE) 2018.
It’s a 5 Day workshop aimed at connecting the youth to unleash their Godly potentials to providing Sustainable Solutions to unemployment. This would be followed by a Regional Empowerment Tour to support partners with training on these solutions in their various communities.
Reservations are available for three dedicated youth fanatics from each region; One person from each Constituency, District and Town respectively and across the nation

According to Silicon Valley Bank’s Innovation Economy Outlook survey, less than 50 percent of technology companies have women in the C-suite or serving on the board of directors. Only 19 percent of CIO positions for Fortune 250 companies are held by women.
In fact, the gender disparity among technology professionals seems to be increasing in spite of recent gains throughout the workplace. Fewer women are joining the tech workforce and the numbers of female students studying technology is in decline—today only 18 percent of computer science majors are women, compared to 37 percent in the mid-1980s. Add in a continued wage imbalance and a high turnover rate for female tech professionals mid-career and it is clear that there is work to be done. How can we encourage more women to join the technology field and insurance technology in particular? What can be done to break down the barriers to success as a female technology professional?

Our discussion today aims to delve into the impact of digitalization on rural entrepreneurship initiatives, especially in enhancing the prosperity of the rural population in sub-Saharan Africa. Given your expertise and experience in this field, your insights will be invaluable in shedding light on how these initiatives can leverage digital advancement to tackle current challenges and seize new opportunities. There are no right or wrong answers, and I am interested in your experience and opinions. Before getting started, do you have any questions?

Michael Herglotz: [0:00:56.0] Okay. Can you tell me about yourself, your initiative, and your main activities? How long have you been operating this business?
Rafiu Olaore: [0:01:09.0] I am Rafiu Akinpelu Olaore, the Founder and Executive Director of Youths Enterprise Development & Innovation Society (YEDIS) in Nigeria. I have an MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom, a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Entrepreneurship and Business Management from the National Open University of Nigeria, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Ekiti State University, Nigeria and a Higher National Diploma in Purchasing and Supply from Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Nigeria. I am a chief lecturer at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Nigeria, and I was an Assistant Director of Entrepreneurship Education from 2013 to 2019. The acronym for the Youths Enterprise Development and Innovations Society is YEDIS. So, along the way, I will use YEDIS to discuss the organization. I founded YEDIS on 11 February 2020. So, the objective is to promote entrepreneurship education, youth employment, gender equality and community development. YEDIS operates in underserved communities.
YEDIS helps marginalized people, especially young people, primarily girls and young women. It is a grassroots nongovernmental organization. So, we understand the challenges facing the people in the rural community. That is why we introduced the NGO to help less privileged people. We introduce entrepreneurship education and digital literacy skills to explore innovation, encourage gender balance, and promote decent jobs and economic development.
So, those are some of the things that we do. Since 2020, we have carried out more than twenty-five social activities and empowerment programs.

- Government school classes in lower grades have up to 75 pupils per class, which will contribute to low matriculation pass rates as these large classes do not allow for individual attention or proper learning. Large class sizes exhaust teachers and negatively impact students' education.
- For students to succeed in matric exams, they need a strong foundation in language and mathematics, which is difficult in huge classes that do not allow for proper teaching. The problems in primary schools need to be addressed to improve matric results.
- Parents and teachers are calling for an education summit to seriously address issues of poor facilities, overcrowding, and low education standards in government schools.

- Class sizes in local government schools are very large, with up to 75 pupils per class in lower grades. These large class sizes make it difficult for teachers to maintain discipline or provide individual assistance.
- The large number of pupils will eventually progress to grade 12 and contribute to the low matriculation pass rates. Pupils are not given a proper opportunity to succeed with huge classes.
- For classes to be properly managed, the ideal class size is 35 pupils or less. But classes of 75 pupils will exhaust teachers and reduce their enthusiasm, affecting the quality of education.
- The problems stem from poor facilities, overcrowding, and low education standards in government schools. Teachers and parents need to address these issues

Volunteers for C4ST contacted Rahul Guggali, the founder and president of Empower Youth Vision (EYV), to cohost an event for the youth in Peel region. The goal for the event was to raise awareness of the harmful affects of radiation from devices used daily. The event’s purpose was to educate the youth on the safe use of wireless devices. As the former President of Microsoft Canada, I have witnessed the incredible benefits technology can provide. I have also seen the potential risks if technology is not used appropriately. I believe there is potential harm in our current use of wireless devices today. Working with Rahul over the previous month allowed me to witness his organizational skills. Rahul has started to develop the techniques required for effective leadership. He genuinely cares about helping the community and his passion showed through his hard work. Along with the leadership of another youth group, Rahul worked tirelessly to ensure the event ran smoothly. The venue, refreshments, food, décor, and, most importantly, attendance at the event exceeded our expectations due to effective planning. The event ran successfully thanks to some great teamwork between the organizations. In addition, an important topic was addressed within the youth community. I believe Rahul is an ideal candidate for the TD Scholarships for Community Leadership because of the impact he is making on his and surrounding communities. He is assisting the youth in the area to develop into future leaders through his initiative. I believe Rahul will continue to have a significant impact within his community as he pursues his post secondary education.
