Letter of Recommendation for Caroline Karavoulias
Dear Ms. Liana Lopes / To Whom it may concern
It is my great pleasure to recommend Ms. Caroline Karavoulias to the Master Programme in
Peace & Conflict Studies given by the Department of Peace and Conflict Research, Uppsala
University.
Ms. Caroline Karavoulias took my course, ‘Political Science III. 379: Security in
International Relations’ in the spring semester 2012, and successfully completed the
course program (7.5 ECTS credits) and seminar with Independent Research Project (IRP:
writing C-uppsats/Bachelor’s thesis, 15 ECTS credits) with outstanding performance. In
the IRP, I was her supervisor for her C-uppsats “Conflict Escalation between America, Israel
and Iran: An analysis of Iran’s alleged nuclear developments” which was very timely and
important topic. Her thesis was well researched, articulated and insightful about the most
imminent concern of international affairs at that time.
Caroline was among the most excellent and independent students in the class. Despite that she
could not receive too much tutoring due to her travel to Australia in May, Caroline diligently
studied complicated theories on nuclear deterrence almost all by herself during her stay in
Australia. I, as her tutor, was impressed by her literally independent work. At the examination
seminar, she defended her thesis successfully, while giving useful and well-pointed comments
to the other student’s thesis as a discussant. For her excellent thesis, Caroline received ‘B’ on
the A-F grading scale, equivalent to a score of 80-90 out of 100.
With my best and sincere confidence, I strongly recommend Ms. Caroline Karavoulias to your
Master Programme in Peace & Conflict Studies. I believe Caroline will become your asset, if
she is enrolled in your program. If you have any question, I will be glad to have further
correspondence with you.
Sincerely, 2013-05-29 Stockholm
